Saw a stand with a lady spraying this on people in the shopping mall and avoided it on a judging a book by its cover basis...I didn't like the bottle. I never normally do that and give all fragrances a chance in the end. Tried this, Weirdly I liked it. Quite generic but very masculine leathery and spicy...simple composition but inoffensive I thought...I might get it, when it's marked down?
Can't believe how much hate there is for this fragrance. It's not one for the frag heads but Come on guys...It's okay. It smelled better when I first tried it sure. Generic yes... uninspiring yes... I don't accept it being perceived as feminine it's not butch by any means but it's a male fragrance through n through. I've got it on today and it is a bit like lynx or something but it's ideal for everyday use or after the gym or something?
For me this is very sweet sporty fragrance that I thought didn't have a great deal to give in terms of depth. I remember instantly loving it but thinking it was a little too sweet and feminine for me at the time. However, after the initial fruity blast it dries down really nicely with patchouli and Cedar coming through. I can totally understand this not being to everyone's taste the reason being...its not bland. It had been a long time since I'd tried it and had forgotten the smell really.I found it gave me something that some other sporty, young type fragrances are lacking and a bit of something that's missing from my repertoire of scents, so I decided to get it. I think it is quite original and I really do have a soft spot for Lacoste colognes based on my love affair with Eau de Lacoste Blanc this is despite most of them being generic at best or just plain awful. They occasionally triumph and get it very right.
Deep, profound, carnal animalic love! One of the most dirty erotic perfumes, intimate and raunchy as few can be! Waiting for a new edition in 2014!
2014 EDP release. Musc Tonkin extrait is one deep and dense animalic perfume. An instant love from first sniff, and one of the bottles I treasure the most in my collection. Mostly because of its exclusivity. The EDP takes the same formula and makes it airier, slightly less potent. It's still one of the most animalic perfumes currently available, so lovers of vintage feeling orientals don't fear. I don't feel it's a different perfume, just less dense. The top and middle notes are more easily discernible. The base notes take longer to arrive. Also the notes are more recognizable this time; the gardenia is more prominent with its mushroom facet, the oakmoss, the leathery castoreum, the urinous civet, the furry musk. Plus it hasn't lost the intense saltiness I love from the extrait. ('Turd on the water' like Gaia so accurately said) If you like one, you'll like the other. I can save the extrait for special occasions and use the EDP to indulge without fear of running out. Sillage and longevity are still remarkable. And people who smell it actually remark that it smells very sexy. So even though it's quite heavy it won't scare people. I also have a feeling that a light spritz in the summer will liven up any simpler perfume, particularly colognes, and glorify white florals. Let's hope it stays permanent in the collection this time! And MAC, if you're reading how about a second batch of the extrait? Please??!! :-))
What an absolute gem! I remember trying silver shadow and liking it so when I saw this going cheap I snapped it up blind...and I love it. Freshness and spice with the juniper and delicate celery note its the juice that keeps giving. This is easily among the best Davidoff scents and the bottle is really attractive too similar shaped reservoir to D&G The One. Also, the stopper has a satisfyingly quality feel when you click it down.
I love this!!! Very, very very sweet almost sickly so to the point of Willy Wonka!!! The initail sweetness reminds me of dolly mixture but it has fruitiness and definite peppery notes which balance it perfectly. I get a little vanilla in the dry down too it's a lovely fragrance. I remember looking at it on here and decided to take a chance on it and I'm so glad I did...a blind buy but I got it cheap. This is another really nice Hugo Boss fragrance...refreshing and after the top notes of sweetness(which endures but is not intrusive) it dries down to a nice scent.
Got a small sample of this and was quite excited when I looked on here at the notes...didn't live up to expectations I'm afraid. Very powdery indeed, a little floral and spicy bit ultimately disappointing. I kind of get some of the similarities to Dior Homme but they are quite different by the same rule...namely I like Dior Homme and I don't like this.
I was going to get Creed MI but figured I'd save some money and track this down...I don't have the two to do a side my side comparison, all I know is that I completely adore this fragrance. I didn't really like the one other Ed Hardy fragrance I tried so I was still cautious that I maybe wouldn't like this, despite kinda knowing what to expect. So glad I got it...love it! Really is fresh and evolves beautifully on my skin, true depth with a great, light citrusy opening exactly the kind of thing I like. Very wearable stuff.
I like Lacoste fragrances on the whole...eau de Lacoste Blanc is my absolute favourite and I had Booster years back and found it okay, pretty fresh & sporty. This however is atrociously bad! The citrus to begin with is burning, harsh and irritates me. No real depth, no woods to speak of really, poorly conceived formulation...hate it.
This is a wonderful fragrance. I loved the original Aqua pour Homme and both evoke the freshness and salty notes of the sea, with a lovely citrus zing. Truly original for an aquatic too, never tried the marine one but I think this toniq version is an interesting twist on the ocean theme.
I like fig notes and thought i liked cacao? but this one is truly not my cup of tea at all...instantly repulsive! Drys down to bare able woodiness. I'll say this for it it's well presented I like the fact in comes in like a biscuit tin and the bottle is really bizarre too.
Okay...so I've revisited this fragrance and I'm not as repulsed as I once was by it. The fig note in the top is strong and green it also has an earthy soil quality then chocolatey patchouli & cacao. Unfortunately this is still a Marmite (by that I mean 75% of people will hate it!) fragrance the note combination is so bold you'd really have to experience love at first sniff to get it. I'm in the minority of people who like Marmite but I'm still not quite convinced about Kokorico. It's a brave fragrance which I have definitely had second thoughts about in a positive way.
Sharp with citrus at first, and very lemony but in a good way. However, I can't make my mind up definitively whether I like it or not? I haven't got it so can't give a balanced review but it interests me as its quite a strange fragrance and generally I'm not mad about Chanel as a rule, accept for the older stuff Cuir de Russie and the like.
Hate to be critical here because generally D&G fragrances are varied and very good. I love the original pour Homme but this one is sadly lacking slightly for me, unfortunately it's just too weak on my skin. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of these folk who look for 'sillage Monsters' or want everyone to smell (and taste!) what I'm wearing, but to me this is gone too quick...and I'm someone who enjoys things like kenneth Cole Reaction and Clinique Happy both of which face the same critisism. I really like the scent initially it's delicate, beautiful reimagining of the original, clean & citrusy, right up my street. Admittedly I don't own a full bottle so maybe if I drenched myself in it I could achieve some longevity. That's my only critism.
Actually read many of the reviews on here before I tried this again as it wasn't particularly memorable the first time. I think that says it all really...however I reckon the criticism waged at this fragrance in the reviews here is unfair. For me I don't just think it's a cheap smelling flanker but I'm not sure The One needed a 'sport' version, I saw it as a classy night time scent. Surprisingly it actually has all the depth of the original but in a completely different sense. Give it a chance it's not bad.
Well I went out with the intention of buying Individuel and ended up with this as I couldn't find it anywhere. Not only that but they didn't have a tester so it was a blind buy and my first impressions were not that great.I took a risk with it because I just like Mont Blanc as a brand and feel there's something very masculine about the other fragrances I've tried so why not? Soap, soap and more soap! Sometimes when people describe fragrances as being soapy I often don't agree or think..."Wow...what kind of soap are you using?" But this has a classic soapy note. There's something in the very top notes like a sharp fruity thing that is just delightful but disappears fairly quickly, then the dry down is really wonderful it truly has more dimensions than it first appears. I get sandalwood, Tonka bean, cardamom, a little cinnamon & ginger too! I think this is a delightful juice that keeps me sniffing. It's ultra clean and classy stuff It growing and growing on me this one...I think I love it now!
Dear oh dear! Not impressed with this outing. I wanted to love this so badly too the original L'eau D'Issey is an classic and among my favourite ever fragrances. The bottle is a beautiful shape and looks great in blue it was all set to be a wonderful addition to the collection, that was until I got a whiff of it! Again, to try to balance my opinion here...I have only tried in once on a card in a shop so can't give a detailed review, this thing could transform and become fantastic in the drydown but somehow... I doubt it. I just can't get over those initial notes of rosemary and lavender I simply don't like them when they're not in the background or careful finessed. Hey, I'm not one of these people who moan about flankers, diversity within the same product line is fine. I mean it's quite clear why companies feel inclined to trade off an established name but this is one departure that is very unlike the others that bare the 'L'eau...' name and I for one... don't like it.
Quite uninspiring this... I'm not suprised it has a lot of people saying the same, pleasant but very reminsant of something you've smelled before and not really bringing anything new to the table. I am however suprised that it's likened Gentlemen only to YSL L'Homme Libre. I'll have to have another try of this because that might just be what it reminds me of...and in that case I LOVE IT! haha. No I'm sure it's not that similar...and this is okay but didn't grab me at all. On a different note The face of the campaign Simon Baker who is cool in the mentalist. Update: d'ya know what? It's not half bad this I totally agree with the review above it's like 'orangey-babypowdery-patchouli' pretty much nails it extremely clean vetiver and pink pepper. I stick to what I said originally it's a crowd pleaser and you're not going to stick out wearing it. From an insane opening of bizarre top notes, bitter, sweet almost musky strangeness that takes a good while to settle into powdersville. After that the dry down gets more masculine (nowhere near the original 'Gentlemen' but...) still not enjoyable for me and would get on my nerves if I wore it myself. The very deep dry down is masculine almost animal musk when all that powder subsides but it's too little too late. Longevity is not bad.
I have to say...I love this. Remember it from the 90's and it's a true classic now. Very warm, spice and wood but with a unique edge, can't quite put my finger on what it is? This stuff is very masculine, not over powering and above all sexy! I'd get myself a bottle but I can only find it in Debenhams and it's a rip off...I'll order a bottle off the net soon enough though.
Well you can't deny this scent is certainly memorable and original. I'm not sure whether I absolutely love it or hate it! These are usually the best scents to persevere with because when you do and end up liking them it gives you more variation in your collection. Initial blast of fruity citrus soon makes way for a peppery earthy notes its quite a old Skool 'Dad' style masculine fragrance which is also quite boozy, something I'm not usually fond of but I think I quite like that element in this one. Again it's a strange mix of the old mans fragrance and the contemporary young mans quite clever really and possibly could be genius. I'll have to get a bottle at some stage because I certainly don't have anything similar.
This is an updated review now that I have this magical elixir. I recognised that it was a grower but I was in two minds in my initial review ...not anymore I've firmly landed in the Love camp! The bitter orange in the beginning is perfectly balanced with hard spicy notes it's a masterpiece and very masculine. I think Terre d'Hermes is one for the true connoisseur and not the faint hearted.
Ahhh so it's Lemon & Coffee? That's what those notes are...needless to say that's not a happy combination, certainly doesn't sit well with me! I immediately didn't like this, something just isn't right in its composition. On the plus side though, I love the Zippo lighter bottle ...it's very stylish.
Just tried this yesterday in the shop so I've by no means given it a fair trial. To me it smells quite generic, like something I've smelled before can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's unfair to be critical because its not offensive or unpleasant and is certainly better for me than the other Gucci ones in a similar bottle...which are pretty awful. It would appear from the ratings here that it has people divided either love or hate...I'll be leaving it well alone not because it's bad, just not my style.
Well Ive completely changed my opinion on this one...I thought wow! and I may even have favoured it to the original when I first tried it. A brief history...I'm somebody who has worn Fahrenheit for a long time and occasionally have to have a break from it as it is strong and everyone needs variety and change. So I was delighted when these alternatives came out and this one was initially my favourite...as some people have mentioned here, as a milder verion of the original. From more exploration and study of the scent I've concluded that I don't like it as much as the others (Absolute, 32) or indeed the orignal. One vibe that is prominant to me is PEPPER it's so dry I can't believe they have the cheek to call it 'Aqua' which should obviously imply a refreshing or reinvigourating quality...I don't find it has that. Other than that it's not bad, totally down to taste as with everything some people with prefer this tweeked version.
Generally not into Versace fragrances this one is a nice citrusy aquatic smell with a fresh feel to it. Just not sure it stands out enough for me personally as I have a lot of similar things in my collection...but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this one.
Not a lot to say about this one other than its okay and that it appeals to me more than the other Big Pony's in the range.. Huge burst of fruit to begin with woody note behind it not very complex but as such not very memorable either.
Really I get lots of dry, salty sea notes from this which are not mentioned here...but i feel it perfectly evokes a kind of sailing fragrance(if there is such a thing?) However, I'm not 100% convinced that I like it but I find it a really intriguing scent. I just have a feeling it would grow on me definitely an interesting one. I'm someone who just has something against Prada (dunno why) but this is a good fragrance quite a cool bottle too, very contemporary and above all masculine.
Quick update...I have it now! I stick to everything I said in my initial review except for the fact that I'm totally sold on this fragrance now!!! I LOVE IT. Think I'll wear it tomorrow.
