Kokorico, from Jean Paul Gaultier was released in 2011. The perfumer behind this creation is Annick Menardo and Olivier Cresp. It has the top notes of Fig Leaf, middle notes of Cacao Pod and Patchouli, and base notes of Cedarwood and Vetiver.
I like fig notes and thought i liked cacao? but this one is truly not my cup of tea at all...instantly repulsive! Drys down to bare able woodiness. I'll say this for it it's well presented I like the fact in comes in like a biscuit tin and the bottle is really bizarre too.
Okay...so I've revisited this fragrance and I'm not as repulsed as I once was by it. The fig note in the top is strong and green it also has an earthy soil quality then chocolatey patchouli & cacao. Unfortunately this is still a Marmite (by that I mean 75% of people will hate it!) fragrance the note combination is so bold you'd really have to experience love at first sniff to get it. I'm in the minority of people who like Marmite but I'm still not quite convinced about Kokorico. It's a brave fragrance which I have definitely had second thoughts about in a positive way.
