I'm a big fan of Jo Malone and this one is a another great combination. I find some of the unisex ones a little feminine more so than this but hey! I'm going to get it for my sister for her birthday as I think it's exactly the kind of thing she would enjoy.
I adore this from Jo Malone! In my opinion the only fragrance in the cologne intense collection that is suited to a man as it really has a wonderful woody quality balanced perfectly with the citrus. Again I am a fan of Oud fragrances but this one is not particularly Oud centric. It is a lovely blend of fruitiness and the Oud to create was is quite simply a very nice scent and something I want to smell like. Hats off to Jo Malone on this one and on the vast majority of her fragrances, even the few I don't particularly like are okay and have a lovely natural feel to them. Update: Just to say it again! This fragrance is amazing I really do love it smells amazing. I don't know why but somehow it conjures up the colour red. It puts me in mind of a really soft luxurious fabric like silk or velvet that's a very deep red or burgundy...If that makes sense? The fruity bergamot is so nice and creates its own beautiful accord when mixed with the creaminess of the Oud it's fantastic and although it stays pretty close to the skin after the first hour or so it has good longevity.
Reminds me a little of a flat I used to live in...a kind of very 'new' smell maybe it's the leather (I don't find it very leathery BTW) & pine? The patchouli and florals in this are delicate and it makes for a really nice fragrance to be honest and although it's soft it's quite long lasting. I like it...just not sure about getting it incase it wouldn't be something I would wear. Update: I got masses of sample vials and have worn this a few times now and each time I like it a little more but it's still nothing special. The feel of it (not necessarily the smell or notes) remind me of ultra clean soapy fragrances like Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I'd put this in the category of a fragrance which seems well conceived to be honest but a little anonymous, I mean it's never going to set the world alight.
Can't even begin to describe this fragrance...needless to say there's a hell of a lot going on. It has the most insane opening of any fragrance I've ever come across. The most fragrant incense and spices evoke an middle eastern mysterious vibe. It's quite simply amazing the most challenging thing I've ever smelled. Genius perfumery and I don't say that lightly. This thing is massive too! It has a lovely dry down which evolves for hours and hours but is not over powering, although I suspect it could be if you were a little careless with the trigger. This is a great achievement by Amouage and Interlude totally deserves my gushing praise. Spritzed a tiny bit on my arm over 18 hours ago and I can still smell it....unheard of longevity for me.
Hate to be a philistine because the other fragrances I tried from this brand absolutely blew me away and I consider them to be brilliant. This to me smells exactly like the smell when you walk into a carpet shop. Not that that's a bad smell...just a weird thing to want to smell like. I suspect the dry down is better and reveals more but I couldn't get past that opening.
Well the first time I tried this I promise you it smelled like a carpet shop I even had my girlfriend smell it and when asked what it reminded her of without prompting she said 'A carpet shop.' So I'd had my first review validated... to a degree. I have to say I've worn a healthy application of this juice a couple of times now...so a fair trial one would imagine. And I've concluded it doesn't smell like a carpet shop. Honour man is remarkably fresh, I get a floral pink peppery, mild incense nothing heavy or jarring in here and it's nice, and reasonably powerful. That is all though, I didn't get monstrous longevity or the power you get from the likes of the recent Interlude. This to me is a more palatable version of Fate, if you like the general middle eastern lite TM feel of Amouage scents but don't want a powerhouse of woods and density then this would be a good choice.
This is HEAVENLY!!! Fruity berries, with musk behind and you get the hint of tea too! Simply stunning, spellbinding freshness... Definitely evokes the fresh mountain stream. I was reluctant to blind buy as I'd read reviews that it was a disappointing effort from Creed... And similar to Himalaya (which it really isn't) My personal taste says this is my favourite from the house and I must have it! Just reaffirms in my mind that you should always try a fragrance (of course) and that there's no accounting for taste. One thing I've learned is that Creed is synonymous with quality.
Just to complete the recent U turns I've been making with regard to fragrances I either didn't like or was on the fence about. This was probably the latter as its very classic male scent with citrus & herbs in perfect measure but failed to inspire me. However having worn it and experienced the dry down I have to say I'm totally converted. It's another classic case of Dior making fragrances that have depth enough to challenge and conflict your senses. This isn't my favourite by any means and I'm not going to rush to add it to my collection but as my tastes change I might well do that? The point is...I get what the fuss is about now.
My oh my!!! This stuff may well be a classic and I've nothing against old Skool fragrances when men smelled like men...even the likes of Fabergé Brut ÜBER Butch! I genuinely couldn't stop choking though from one small spray to my wrist, awful and far too much! That being said I respect people who like it and it's status. Also it probably is very well put together just not my cup of tea something about it that doesn't sit right.
A really well executed alternate version of aqva. The original managed to evoke a lovely aquatic accord using cool citrus & fruity notes. This one is obviously similar to the original but cleverly delves deeper into the abyss with more saltiness and seaweed vibes. The watery notes are somehow evoke the feeling of deeper water which fulfils the brief and the name Marine. The Aqva Toniq I have is extremely salty and not quite as pleasant as these. I think the saltiness is just right on this one and I can't choose between Aqva and Aqva Marine as they are both great.
Ahhhh...yes it is a bit like CK one, I'll have to check but it instantlyreminded me of YSL Libre Cologne tonic I think? As I say I'll have to check that one. This scent is beautiful though...I don't think anyone could hate it it's very clean and likable. I have chrome united because its kinda the same but fractionally more challenging and heavier with the metallic note that both have. Great stuff and Azzaro always seems to be on offer wherever I see them.
Anyone think this smells like Dr Pepper? My appologies to the serious connoisseurs out there. I mean that in a really good way....something in there creates a Carmelised, sweet, almondy accord which to me is lovely. As it matures on the skin a little it gets less sweet and the pepper comes into play...wood and incense give it a warming effect definitely one for the winter months. I've liked all the Dunhill fragrances I've tried and this one is no exception shame they're hard to track down unless you blind buy. I LOVE it!!!!
This takes me back! Edition is so unique, green soap like, herbal and has a maturity about it but very odd at the same time. I'd completely forgotten what it smelled like until I found it again recently...I need it in my life...it's incredibly smooth and delivers all notes in equal measure like a symphony of loveliness. Great stuff!
@Housebliss... Are you sure your juice changed colour? There is a Dunhill 'For Men' than comes in the same bottle and is the colour you describe.
I thought this looked very interesting from the note breakdown on here and would be sexy and sensual. Personally I found it to be very grassy in the top I get a lot of the fir and sage coming through with the vanilla it's quite strange really. I'm not saying it doesn't work I need to give it further analysis before I reach my conclusion. I like woody scents on the whole and like the descriptions here about root beer...it just smells odd to me first try though.
I tend to give Issey Miyake the benefit of the doubt with the tweaks to the classic L'eau D'issey as it's one of my favourites. This has to be my favourite tweaked version I've tried it's very much darker and more intense and I personally think you get a blast of Yuzu and an almost minty menthol in the top some of the notes create a medicated eucalyptusy type accord. After that though it's like a smokey version of the orignal which is a massive positive as the sport one doesn't work for me and the other version I've tried (the Blue one) is not to my taste. The sillage, projection and longetivity are that of the original...I like this I must say.
I was extremely excited by the note breakdown on this one, tropical fruit, spice, amber, florals and I think Loewe know what they're doing on the whole. Attractive packaging and an very attractive girl in the shop too (she was impressed that I knew of Loewe in the first place!) This made for a 'must have' combination of factors. However, when I tried it along side the platinum I found it to be a nice scent but not half as interesting...maybe if I give it more of a chance (which I'm prepared to do) it will shine in the future. Still great though and I urge anyone to shun high street names like Armani, Calvin Klein, and Hugo Boss in favour of this stuff.
Musk based, melon and mandarin with amber & suede too!?!? Great notes...sounds like my wet dream! Unfortunately the only thing that makes this one stand out is the peculiar and overly massive bottle. Cheap and no real substance to this one, I found the fruity opening harsh and then nothing after that really. I can understand the mention of Kenneth Cole Reaction and CK Escape but in my view they are both much better than this effort. Cheap though.
I think to an extent you know what you're going to get with Dior...and that's quality! Not my favourite in the Homme collection but if you want a really lovely smelling citrus & musk fragrance, you can't go wrong with this. The bergamot, grapefruit blossom combination is really nice, and much more pleasant to my nose than the lemon & ginger of Homme sport but somehow not as challenging. I still think it's great and the bottle is very attractive too with the frosted sides.
Woah!!! What about this one hey? I ABSOLUTEly love it!!! Why have I not had regular Fahrenheit for a few years now? I don't know ??? is the answer... Come back all is forgiven...I adore you!!! Absolute is much more sumptuous and darker than the original with oud and incense and in actual fact you get that a lot of that in the top of the fragrance, you have to rummage a little for the violet familiarity of Fahrenheit but it comes through. When it dries down a little it gives you all the goodness of the original with a new found deepness smokiness and a quality of resin. It's genius and I love the way it says on the box which changes have been implicated something you don't get with most flankers. In fact most flankers change up the notes completely but Dior have made sure all of them contain the original elements that make Fahrenheit a timeless classic. This is awesome and I love it if I hadn't made myself clear.
My second Beckham outing and as I suspected from the note breakdown...no new experience to be had here. Clean fresh zing of citrus which I actually found too harsh but that might just be my nose at the moment as I find many openings don't appeal. When it settles a little it's a nice fresh scent with good value for money. Worth a go but it's not going to enchant anyone.
A musky fragrance with definite metallic notes which are maybe referenced by the checker plate design on the stopper and bottom of the bottle....or I'm reading too much into it? Lacking in originality but a good scent and I picked it up at rock bottom price so it was a worthwhile purchase as I will wear it regularly I reckon.
What's clever about Dior and in particular The Homme line are the accords created by the mixture of notes to create a similar vibe and continuity throughout. For example the original Dior Homme has a mustiness which comes from the floral notes constantly fighting (in a good way) with the warm ambery, leathery, earthy heart. This one for me has the same thing but in a totally different citrus fragrance it's the sharp lemon and grapefruit in the top which is spiced with ginger and for me creates the same effect. Anyway...when it dries down this fragrance remains nice and fresh, as the ginger note (which I normally not overly keen on) mellows but is still present. I can see why people think it's over rated because there's lots of fresh citrus scents out there but few have the pedigree of this one in my opinion. It doesn't compare to Homme or Intense for legendary status and I don't know the cologne version well enough to compare with this other than it is a little softer. The verdict is...Dior fragrances are really well conceived and you can expect quality from their flankers.
Obviously I love this masterpiece, it's held in such high regard by many people but I've always opted for Dior Homme and I've never owned this version despite knowing truly how good it is. I think now I need a little more intensity, so I will have to get this at some point.
Quite an enjoyable fragrance once it's mellowed a bit. I like the fact that although the vanilla is there it's not too prominent to the point where it's a wash out and the spice of cinnamon and cardamom I like. Not great but best one of this collection I've tried so far.
This is a massive scent! Extremely loud and intrusive I'm not a fan but I appreciate it for being bold and it does stand out from the crowd. I just think it's a little clumsy and harsh in its composition.
