Reminds me a little of gin fragrant and full of Juniper, vetiver a little floral and with basenotes of sandlewood and pine. A strange one really because I feel as though I shouldn't like it but I do. It's just a classic and masculine. Update: I'm wearing this today (a blustery Autumn/fall morning) as I just had a craving for it last night when I went to bed I thought...'I'm going to wear 1881 tomorrow.' and I was excited by the prospect. I'd honestly forgotten what notes I get from it except Juniper & lavender maybe? I tested myself and was pleased that I picked up on the majority of notes listed on here...quite pleased with myself despite being a bit bunged up. It's still fresh and spring/summer like but as I stepped out of the house into the cold it really kicked and gave a wonderfully invigorating burst of lovely herby citrus. I actually get lots of vetiver and oakmoss in this today very grounding and earthy lushness, almost dew coated. A splendid scent and a dark horse in my collection, I've owned several bottles but I seem to have a new found appreciation for truly how good this fragrance is.
Very woody, spicy, dry musk and cool freshing top notes of mint. I like this and it's very wearable in my opinion a fitting name too as it's kinda reminisant of the original Hugo (I don't know might be psychosomatic/Placebo because it's in the same bottle?) but somehow just different.
I liked it more in the shop when I first tried it. This one was by far my favourite but now I've gone from loving it to just liking it. I've nothing negetive to say here it's super fresh I get the notes of beeswax & the cucumber and apple freshness and then lots of tea. Always feel really clean and refreshed wearing this.
Just to add to my review below... I rarely use this really but when I do I layer it with the Lime, Basil and Mandarin gel moussant straight out of the shower and it's a mega refreshing experience! So invigorating and really wakes you up in a morning. I just have it in my head that it's more of a summer fragrance due to the freshness factor. Lovely stuff though and works well on a man...well me anyway.
Just lovely! Summery, light, citrusy. The Lime and mardarin hits you first then as it matures on my skin I get a slightly earthy but refreshing note from the basil and a fresh zesty aftertouch. Amazing!
This one is without shadow of a doubt classy. I feel like a proper gent in this woody, floral and luxurious scent. Something about the inital smell that is earthy and really quite unpleasant for my taste. However, that goes pretty quickly on my skin and the dry down is gorgeous... like a pencil case full of make up...Love it.
Woah! A lot of hate for this one evidently. Hated 1 million and didn't expect much from this but I have to say I was pleasantly suprised to be honest. Once you get passed the hideous bottle which does resemble an ern. It's okay...I liked it more in the shop at first(so beware) but then after a week or so of using it I'm fairly indifferent. I have smelled it everywhere when out and about since, obviously lots of people trying it. I don't go off hype, the fact that it's new or how it looks anyway. After the initial accrid flyspray moment It settles down and smells quite nice...that is all.
Here's a quick updated review on this fragrance. I just feel quite cheated by my own nose on this one, as I previously mentioned I liked it at first in the shop and made a rash decision to purchase. In hindsight it was a bad choice. After a while now it has become positively insipid something really cloying and headache inducing about it. However, All this being said I can still smell the thing that made me enjoy it in the first place...If nothing else this scent is certainly an enigma. Finally, my mum commented on it today which she never does, saying it was too strong. It is very strong, which is obviously what they think people like about these modern colognes....not for me really this one.
Somehow epitimises the late 90's for me. I personally liked it more then, gone off it a bit now. It also reminds me of an old friend of mine who always wore it. Smells different on me though and just okay inoffensive really.
On the contrary to my catagorization of this fragrance as more suitable to be worn at night, I actually used an entire 60ml bottle in no time... as my gym bag cologne. Maybe it's because it's powerful and cuts through the chlorine smell that still lingres even after showering? Anyway... It's warm, spicy, oriental, oddly sexy (girls have told me that not just me) and I love this...total departure from cool water which you would expect and much nicer in my opinion. Massive projection, never overpowering great stuff.
Really like this one! Not exactly spellbinding though by the same rule. Nice salty sea element to it, fruity and generally very nice. Still haven't bought a bottle so I don't know about long term use longevity etc...doesn't seem too potent to me but I like that. Has a time and a place to be worn.
Some of the diesel fragrances are okay...non have compelled me to buy as yet though. Tried this today....boozy and awful! A guy tried it after me and his girlfriend said ..."mmmm...that's gorgeous." There's no accounting for taste I suppose.... each to their own and all that but come on? I thought maybe she's an alcoholic? or has a seriously diminished sense of smell? I very nearly opened up the debate on everything that was abhorrent about this stench there and then in the store...but realised that I would come off as a psycho! Needless to say...I won't be getting this.
Agreed its very sharp almost unpleasant at first...when it settles down its great! Notes of Mango, spices..really this is right up my street, it's one that can be warn everyday for sure. Doesn't stick around very long but hey it's subtle. Not as nice as the sublime Blanc but very good nevertheless.
Definite green notes, zesty, bit of spice really like this one! I remember when it came out and a pretty young lady in Boots sprayed it on a card and handed it to me in passing. I stuffed it in my pocket and forgot about it pretty much. Then a few days later I realised my coat pocket smelled incredible...I've had various bottles since and never looked back...and it's been out for years! It's very wearable and sporty...I'm aware there's lots of variants and an array of 212s out there but this original one is great.
The name is apt here. It's a Happy fragrance. I personally love this scent...it's oranges/mandarins ...who doesn't like that? Yes it's cheap smelling and no it's not the most realistic of things but I just take it for what it is, the modernist interpreatation of a cologne. Well actually I do understand why there's so many scathing reviews it's not for everyone I suppose but it's very fresh & throwaway and I've used it very 'Happily' for years now in summer mainly. Granted it is pretty weak and all but disappears pretty quick but hey some people like that kind of subtlety sometimes....I know I do.
First got a whiff of this in an Abercrombie & Fitch store in the states. One of my female friends told me women go wild for it and that wasn't the first time I'd heard it was a babe magnet. I didn't need much more encouragement to get myself a bottle, which was not that easy in the UK as not many places stock it. I love this fragrance, at first it seems a bit generic and cheap but the more you use it, it seriously grows on you and I thought it was unique...That was until I found Monc Blanc Legend the recently released clone job of this. They did a poor job in my opinion, because this is so much thicker and ballsier. Herbal, kinda smalls of linalool, DHM, lavender, bergamot, sage then thickness of coumarin, it's a kind of modernist fougere I guess? Another difference with the Mont Blanc it comes in a much more attractive bottle to me its like a hipflask, looks a bit more polished for a designer brand and rightfully so given the pens and that. Im not a woman or a gay man and don't care much for the tacky cheap A&F bottle with a mans rippling torso on...it's not aspirational it's just depressing you don't look like that and no amount of "FIERCE" will change that! Anyway...despite this I love this fragrance and the chicks definitely dig it, which is cool! Haha Jesus I sound insufferable
Another staple, youth favourite. Clean...fresh...amazing... A true classic, popular for good reason...citrusy, classy...suited to everyday use. Great stuff.
Love this! You get all the notes mentioned here Sugary, almonds, vanilla....like marzipan really. So obviously not for everyone. The bottle is cool!!! Looks Egyptian or like a monolith or something? I only had a little sample so can't give a proper appraisal but the projection is pretty poor... If you care about that sort of thing ...which I don't. It is weak and not good for longevity despite this...it has a time and a place. I'm looking to add it to my collection in the future if the price is right.
Well...what can I say about this one? Another classic in my book! I wore it throughout the mid to late 90's and early 2000's. I found a bottle I've rarely worn lurking in my collection from about 2004. Still potent as anything with that biting calone. It's very citrusy at first...big blast of grapefruit then it mutates into a unique accord even for a 90's aquatic Issey should out. It is just plain nice and for me never never really gets old. I find it very powerful indeed and lasts for ages, for whatever reason it garners a lot of comments and even the odd compliment. Still a winner!
I wasn't keen on this when it first came out....but decided to revisit it and now I've had it on my skin properly, I've kinda fallen for it. Just to echo the other reviews I definitely get the gorgegous tobaccoish accord, warm and quite a sexy affair. Just getting nicer and nicer as well gonna get this one. It's the kind of perfume I get the impression ladies will love on a man (probably because they'd like to nick it for themselves), definitely one for the evening too.
Fahrenheit and I have a long history...Love it now as much as I did when I first encountered its warmth. It was 1989 and it was my friends dads...been hooked ever since. I don't currently own a bottle simply because it is very powerful stuff and it's nice to have a break every now and again. I get a lot of sweet violet, honeysuckle, hawthorn, and vetiver laced leather from it...strong & beautiful and about to get revisited by me... Might try the aqua one after a hiatus from this fragrance and it's flankers. It will always be a favourite of mine. A true classic and no mistake.
Love at first sight (or sniff) is a beautiful and rare thing especially when it comes to fragrances. Usually I grow to love them over a period as they evolve on my palette...but this one was one of those rarities. I don't say this lightly and I'm by no means a refined connoisseur but I think this is my favourite fragrance ever! (Can you tell I like it?) It's weird, somehow it does evoke the spirit of the Lacoste polo shirt too.(Maybe I'm just being sucked in by the marketing bumf!) I think it's unique, super clean and fresh with just enough sweetness without being sickly. It starts out with candy sweetness and then evolves slightly into a kind of creaminess (for want of a better word!) which is just lovely! It's by no means super sophisticated but easily can be warn every day. It's not very strong and has moderate longevity but still smells amazing on my skin after 8 hours or so...even if no one else can smell it by then. A minor critique could be that it's too feminine...personally I don't subscribe to that or if it was passed my personal threshold, I wouldn't wear it. This one is simply sublime and definitely the best of the 12.12 Lacoste fragrances. Haven't really given Black, Green, and blue a fair trial but let's face it they are boring shit, the red one is nice too reminds me of a fruity tart musk like Gucci Rush or something?. Sorry for the gushing review but I think this one is worthy of it.
I got a sample of this when I was 12 years old. I liked it so much, that I planned to purchase a full bottle of it when I'm grown up. Sadly they discontinued it very quickly, still I was able to find an eBay seller that sold a few bottles of this scent. It made my day sniffing this scent after such a long time and still feeling so enchanted by it. Strenesse is one of the most creamy+powdery+heavenly perfumes I smelled so far. These are the notes I get from this fragrance: peach, almond blossom, vanilla blossom, sandalwood and amber. There is no sharp, bitter or sour note, at least not on my skin, just wonderful rounded and like sitting on a fluffy cloud. A really feminine skin scent. I'm really in love with it and enjoying wearing this special creation!
The opening is really, really fruity, it reminds me of pineapples, what I liked first, but then it turns into a common and boring scent. Does not hit me or excite me. The bottle is pretty though, just like in the picture.
I never tested this perfume, because I disliked the bottle, but well I read so good reviews about it and in the end it made me curious to try. My review is for the EDT of Sensations. I read that it has a more appealing scent than the EDP version. I tested it on my wrist, and the beginning is a mix of citrus+vanilla, very creamy and soft. But then it transforms into one of the most beautiful sweet, cuddly vanilla scents I've ever smelled. Very comforting and alluring too. A must-try for all vanilla-lovers! The lasting power is amazing, lasts on me about 15 hrs.
Was a very easy mens cologne to wear. Manly yet sophisticated. I would love to find a good deal on still today to have it back in my rotation.
