Ah, what a beauty ! I debated getting a full bottle for a while, as this is indeed similar to BDK’s Gris Charnel which I already had. If you have tried GC before and liked it, you’ll likely love Clifton. The one note “missing” from Gris Charnel is the tea. Comparing the two, there’s less spice and more fruit in Clifton, the overall feel is smoother and richer and the performance is way better. It feels like both these perfumes had the same goal but the execution in Clifton is flawless. Sweet Fig, lightly spiced, evolving into a creamy woody scent. Sublime.
I generally dislike aldehydes so I didn’t rush to sample this one. I do appreciate Quentin Bisch creations hence I decided to give it a try in the end. Valaya starts off citrusy then grows sweeter and settles into a soft musk, orange blossom is noticeable through the mid and the synthetic undertones are tastefully done. The musk-bergamot in this is very similar to Fugazzi’s Angel Dust which I own and like better (as it’s much more unisex). That being said, the composition feels a bit flat and unimpressive, more so at the price this retails for. Soft sillage and decent longevity, feminine scent. Won’t add this to my collection, but I’m glad to have sampled it.
I heard this being compared to a hospital waiting room, android fresh off the factory line, spaceship and other crazy things. To me this does smell like a freshly printed magazine with glossy pages. Even if it doesn’t end up being a purchase for you, I feel like this is a “must try” fragrance for its uniqueness alone. The predominant mineral/metallic facet gives this a very fresh, almost cold feel so it’s a good pick for hot weather. The citrus is faint and I don’t get much suede either. I’d say it’s unisex, I very much enjoy wearing this as a woman. Only need a couple sprays as this is quite powerful. Long lasting, easily 8 hrs or more on skin so great performance too.
I smell this and remember a spring morning - I’m fresh out the shower, I’ve put on a soft scented body lotion and I’m applying lipstick, getting ready for the day. Creamy, melts-on-your-skin orris and rosey lipstick. This feels like a hug and sits close to skin like one. One of the quietest perfumes I ever tried. Doesn’t really last much on me either, gone within a couple hours. I would get a bottle of this for those “no perfume” days but it’s just too pricey for what it is..
I think this is feminine to some and masculine to others depending on what notes are more prominent due to body chemistry. This smells mostly fruity sweet on me and soft woody in the dry down, while on my partner the smoky and tobacco notes stand out more. Definitely try this on skin first. I get mostly candied quince in the opening, quite realistic quince note which I really like. I smell some iris, but lily is barely there to my nose. If you are looking for a lily centered fragrance, this isn’t it. Dry down is mostly woody, tobacco is there but faint, and the sweetness lingers. Autumnal scent to me because of the quince. Longevity is about 4 hrs, sillage is modest but suited to the scent profile. Casual, comfort fragrance. Quite unique, I haven’t come across many others like it. Happy to have a bottle !
I strongly advise against blind buying this. I almost got a 50 ml bottle without sampling and that would’ve been a mistake. I can see this being a beautiful fragrance with the right chemistry, the boozy coconut opening was great for me as well. Not a sweet coconut on my skin, and I really enjoyed the first 30 mins of wear. Enter the tobacco… I don’t dislike this note at all, tonka I love but couldn’t detect here. All I get is very dry, heavy tobacco, and it doesn’t morph into anything else. Headache inducing. 4 hrs into my first test had to go wash this off as I got tired of feeling like an ashtray. Gave it another try a couple months later, result is much the same, interesting opening then tobacco blasts through and ruins everything. Performance seems on par with other offerings from Nishane, sadly this didn’t work for me. Do yourself a favour and sample first.
I enjoyed my sample of this but won’t seek a full bottle. Performance is on par with the price, long lasting (8 +hrs) and you only need little of this otherwise it veers into headache territory. Good sillage too but not quite beast mode. Fairly linear white floral, heavy on the tuberose, bit sweet from the vanilla but not much else going on. Well blended and has a very “quality” feel. Mature, feminine fragrance.
This has some similarities to Tiziana Terenzi Delox. The rose is a bit more sparkling here, and since there’s no coffee in Deliciae the scent is fresher overall. Slightly sour from the lemon, so not a sickly sweet sirupy rose. Quite linear and simple. Doesn’t project much so it’s more of a skin scent, decent longevity (4-6 hrs). The atomiser is atrocious, and the overall packaging looks a bit cheap for the £177 full bottle price. Good pick if you can find it discounted, otherwise I suggest looking for other options as this is not by any means a groundbreaking or unique scent.
The entire Vie di Milano collection certainly has very interesting offerings. Having sampled all the 2020 releases and most of the 2022 ones, this has been full bottle worthy for me. This is a fabulous gourmand offering. Hazelnut and coffee are most prominent on me, florals are there but faint. To me this smells like a chocolate hazelnut pastry filling, but less sweet. Or like a delicious hazelnut latte. Performance is good for an EDP, 5 hrs or more on skin. Sillage is quite intimate which I think suits the scent profile. If you are a gourmand lover this is definitely worth trying !
Just as another commenter pointed out below, this smells like pickle juice.. It started promising, green, felt the peppery spice a bit then it just turned sour on my skin.. Cannot honestly see anything more accurate to describe this than pickle juice. I wanted to give this a fair test but after a couple hours I just had to scrub it off. Wouldn’t consider this a safe blind buy, do yourself a favour and try before you buy !
