The Return of a Legend: Cartier Santos de Cartier Re-Released
Cartier has quietly brought back a legend. Santos de Cartier, the house’s very first men’s fragrance from 1981, has officially been re-released, and I spotted it sitting proudly at Bloomingdale’s and Saks in New York. Of course, I had to report back.
In today’s video, I break down everything you need to know about this relaunch: the price differences, how the new version smells, how it compares to the vintage, and why classics like this keep disappearing and returning. We’ll also talk a bit about Must de Cartier, the similarities in their DNA, and how this scent fits into the bold aromatic style of the early 80s.
Is the reformulation perfect? No. But if you love classic masculine fragrances, herbal aromatics, and those old-school barbershop-meets-amber vibes, this return is genuinely exciting. And who knows, maybe we’ll even see a Parfum version someday.
