It’s common knowledge by now that Harmonious is Boadicea’s take on the famous Dior Homme Parfum - a mastery in Iris and leather. Despite the strong similarities, there are noticeable differences, and not entirely for the better I’m afraid to say. The core of the scent profile is the same as the Dior, but comes across much more dry - the Iris flower accord is replaced with a dusty orris note, whilst the ambrette seems to be vigorously amped up giving it an increased musky edge. At the same time, it seems a little sweeter, whilst maintaining a definite aroma of baby wipes. I enjoy it, but I don’t love it - I’m glad Boadicea has started doing these 10ml bottles so that I can enjoy this scent without committing to 100ml which I would never get through. It’s a nice scent, but considering the price, the Dior is far superior. But with Dior Homme Parfum’s recent reformulation, perhaps this will grow in popularity.
Yatagan is aptly named after a type of short-sword native to Ottoman Turkey, a fitting name for a scent which is as sharp and cutting as a fine blade. I had long been looking for a fantastic pine fragrance, and this is the one - an utterly spectacular aromatic woody scent which will certainly put hair on your chest. As I said, pine is at the forefront of this perfume, and what a wondrous note it is - piercingly sharp, furthered by the pairing of lavender and mint, you’re blasted with this dense green accord which is at once bitter, herbal and fresh-spicy. From here a pronounced woodiness makes itself known, with a resounding musky dryness. Yatagan is one of the most outright masculine scents I’ve ever encountered, it is unapologetic in its confident strut, as it shouts during the first hour of its life. Despite how perfect this smells however, I find the longevity lets it down slightly, which is a shame. Still, for the price I think it is a must-have.
I've sampled three scents from Bertie's new brand and this is the least awful. So you can imagine, none of them have impressed me, but this one at least smells ok, whereas the others have been screechy, scratchy and cheap-smelling. This does smell cheap, and given BD's reputation for being the expert at rendering incense in various perfume guises, I'd expect something more original. It's a solid meh 🤷
Much more on the Montale side of the spectrum than the Amouage side if you know what I mean. Scratchy and lacking depth. Also, as this type of profile has been done to death, what's the point unless you have something new to offer. This certainly offers nothing new, just a cheap-smelling rehash of countless other perfumes.
Calone and stemone. To me it's nothing like Journey Woman. This smells cheap, and the aroma-chemicals immediately stand out recognisably. A very underwhelming experience.
Blind bought a 200ml bottle from eBay. Ended up spending under 20 bucks. This is because I’ve never smelled anything by Rosendo Mateu I didn’t love. As of now I have 5 of his creations (Agua Brava is my favorite). Diavolo is nothing dark, nothing spicy, nothing sultry, nothing mysterious. If you’ve ever smelled the original Prada Luna Rossa, you’ll get the vibe. This is a clean, soapy, reassuring, classy, soft fragrance with some greens and a little leather. I love it. I probably used 3 mls though in one work shift. I didn’t notice any significant projection or significant longevity worth mentioning. Worth a blind buy I’d say. Glad to have it in my collection. It was instantly liked by my whole family.
Sweet dried fruits, and resinous opening with almost medicinal citrus from the Olibanum.
Woody notes and spices come in soon after with a warm and furry animalic musk.
The rose comes across softly and a little waxy, like Malle's Lipstick Rose.
The resins and incense here really sing but well composed. A balsamic ambery warmth accompanies.
This smells like what I'd imagine a desert market to smell like. Dried fruits, spices, resins and flowers in wooden boxes baking in the sun. The camels are nearby, their fur warming.
A truly beautiful take on an oriental fragrance.
On my skin this smells exactly the same as Gold Man, which is my favourite Amouage perfume.
Very similar to Sleight of Fern and somewhat similar to Beau de Jour. Too sickly for me, not one of the best Amouages. Bracken Woman is far more interesting and bold.
A lot of resins in this one, it’s a comfortable scent, you can wear it anywhere for any occasion. Is it interesting? Not really
Seems to me that any perfume with zingy fruit will automatically turn sour on my skin. This is what happens here, it’s fresh apple, all the way through, zero nuance. A bit like cleaning product...
Opening is bright, fresh and woody.
As it sits, it quickly softens into a powdery, slightly woody Palo Santo scent with amber and ambroxan.
After an hour or so it's recognisable as You DNA, but fresher and brighter from Palo Santo, with soft floral buttery violet.
10/10 masterpiece. Longevity is insane, I get around 12-16 hours with strong projection for about 8-10 hours. Bottle design and presentation is marvelous with a beautiful atomizer and some bottles have shimmer. I highly recommend this brand not just this specific fragrance.
Very woody and citrusy fragrance. It takes what the original does well and makes it better. It does smell similar to Creed Aventus, but it is definitely unique. This is a very wearable fragrance and can be worn for any occasion. Definitely one of my go to fragrances on many different occasion and it’s very affordable! Would definitely buy this again.
one of the cleanest fragrances i own. so fresh and clean. can wear it to any occasion. has amazing longevity and great projection. highly recommend. if you like prada l’homme, think of reflection man as the sophisticated older brother.
Sedley is a nice fresh slightly woody scent. Opens with some a blast of citrus with this woody undertone that's just wonderful from the first spray until it's gone. The woods don't go away only come through stronger on my skin. There's almost a powdery fresf note maye the lavender or mint idk not that good at that part but it's light and very pleasant
I get a good 8 to 10 hours at work where it's hot all the time. Can't speak to silliage yet but at the end of the day other guys in the breakroom say they can still smell me
Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice summer scent that's not overly woody it's got a very slight green Irish tweed vibe
I am so pleased with this fragrance. It’s very sweet and pleasant on the nose. Not harsh at all. It opens with some vanilla, cherry, leather, and rose (what I get from it). Then the dry down is fantastic. Vanilla and almond are very prominent. I will keep this around the rest of my life.
Heavenly scent
Blind bought this from the hype. I am so disappointed. It’s very citrusy and very earthy. I just don’t think it’s appealing at all. I’ll keep in the collection but won’t buy again.
A sweet perfume that I consider one of the best in my collection. The scent is very good throughout its duration, a sweet vanilla with a more amber/woody touch in the background. In the opening, I can clearly feel the rum note, which is incredibly just right and not too strong. In the opening and in the first few hours after, I also get lavender and perhaps this chestnut note to make the aroma even more perfect, in my opinion very "well-rounded".
Looking at this more alcoholic and sweet touch of the perfume, I think it is perfect for colder climates and nighttime situations. It gives me more of a date vibe than a party/clubber, in my opinion. I found the performance to be great on me, with projection and lasting between 2h and +10h respectively.
SWY Intensely is also very sweet, I like it a lot, but the caramel note makes it a more "pleasant" sweet overall. I think this one, Absolutely, might be a little more "challenging" for some, even though it's an incredible scent. It's a perfume that gives off a sweeter and more elegant vibe. For those who like more unique sweets, this one is definitely worth checking out, 10 out of 10.
Hyperrealistic lemon cake scent. The first minutes are very lemon-y, then it settles into a sweet cake - the brown sugar & vanilla mixture stays with you for a couple of hours. Very nice gourmand, probably best to wear in colder months.
Okay. There’s a pattern to Tom Ford’s releases and it was actually quite a positive thing for a while there. They’d bring something out in the prive line then when it didn’t really do very well because it was quite simply too expensive, they’d knock out a signature line version. Which like I said, was quite a good trend until the prices of everything just went into the silly stratosphere. The more established TF has become as an in demand designer brand, the more they feel they can get away with price wise for their perfumes, which is a shame because despite always being high end they were still somewhat attainable, whereas now they’re not. Anyway… bois pacifique is a prime example of the rehash of some old ideas, namely the Gucci PH1 spicy, incense/woody accord, with some minor modern, sparkle tweak not dissimilar to Ebene fume which I somewhat enjoyed and is the prive version of this basically but I recall more licorice/myrrh tinge to that..no? (I might be misremembering? Hmm) Despite many efforts (even by the same perfumer) nothing seems to recapture that rough, spicy magic of PH1 not suggesting that is what this is trying to do. I feel reductive spouting all this wehhrr it smells like this, and we are bored of it weeehhhrrrr! Moany crap because the tiny tweak in perfumery can lead to magic but in this case, coupled with the price it just doesn’t do it for me. Price is such a big determining factor now that I say if this was 40% cheaper it would be a solid release and a decent modern example of the genre. It’s alright I guess, I don’t hate it.
Now it's easy to understand why this perfume is so many people's favorite. Truly, a masterpiece!
This is a very classy, sensual and elegant perfume. I've never smelled (designer) such a good and balanced tobacco note as here. For me, this tobacco aroma was perfect with the more citrusy opening of the grapefruit... The ginger and cardamom come together to make the aroma even more rounded, making a good transition to the more amber/cedar base of the fragrance.
A truly exceptional perfume, well worth trying. I don't know the EDT version, but I imagine it follows the same direction as the EDP, without fail!!! The only point to highlight is that the performance is not at all bombastic on my skin (from the reviews I realized that it doesn't happen only to me). Projection of about 1 hour and lasting for approximately 6 hours on my skin. I'm not disappointed, because I believe that this is what it's designed for. While it lasts, you'll be in very good company! I used it more on special occasions or even as a "daily" product, both during the day and at night, in mild temperatures.
A very seductive, charming, complete perfume... Divine! Congratulations on this masterpiece, Mr. Olivier Polge.
Read every reviews here mentioning the motor oil accord, but on my skin that was nowhere to be seen. Flame & Fortune is a bubblegum-y tuberose, not too cloying or sweet but rather effervescent and oh so fruity, like a sweet grape soda. There is also a touch of powdery orange blossom on the back that is very nice. Not that unique but the blend is nice.
