What does Petitgrain Smell Like? What Is Petitgrain? + 10 Awesome Petitgrain Fragrances
Petitgrain gets its name from the fact that they use to extract from unripe small green fruits of the orange tree. Petitgrain means small grain - petit for small and grain for of course grain. But Petitgrain is an essential oil extracted from the leaves and green stems and twigs of the bitter orange tree and it’s extracted via a steam distillation process. Traditionally Petitgrain comes from Paraguay not sure why Paraguay perhaps they have the best plants/crops for it but Petitgrain also does come from France. Now Petitgrain is similar to Neroli, it comes from the same tree but once extracted they have completely different smells. Neroli is from the flowers of the bitter orange tree and the Petitgrain is from twigs, leaves, and branches. The Petitgrain oil smells of green, woody, and orange citruses. A wonderful smell.
