Oriental Velours is very difficult to put into the words since it's so simple. It doesn't bring any kind of scenes or memories into my mind. Its very subtle scent, mainly resinous aroma from Myrrh sweetened with Vanilla and Spruce bringing green woody balsamic nuances to it. The scent is pleasant, warm and cozy, it's calming because of aromatic touch in it. Personally, it's very difficult to see this scent anywhere else but when I'm relaxing at home, on the sofa, the fireplace warming next to me but it's beautiful scent for such a purpose. This is a bright and light scent, also in terms of structure. The vanilla is airy and not at all too sweet. Jasmine is a supportive note here. Oriental Velours is totally unisex but I but I feel like it's more attractive on men because of the woody aromatic character. Vetiver is clearly visible in the scent, but it is very soft and velvety. Absolutely a good quality scent but I just feel that something is missing. Jasmin alcoolat Inde Grand cru 5%, Vanille verte oléorésine Madagascar Grand cru 2,5%, Myrrhe essence Somalie 15%, Vétiver essence spéciale Haïti Grand Cru 10% Contient de l’essence d’Épicéa des Alpes* I'm rarely this laconic in my reviews, but sometimes less is more. When I was testing the perfumes from this new house it was immediately clear that the house has its own personal touch to each scent. None of them directly reminded me of any previous fragrance, even though the scent profiles are very common. It didn't feel like the style is immediately so "me" and the scents are heavy, so these are not for those who like light scents. Anyway I think you'll grow into these scents little by little. The more I have worn them the more I enjoy them. Topaz Glamour opens up with a exotic mix of berries and fruits, which is not a sparkling, light, summery drink, but rather reminds me of wine gum sweets. The aroma is not totally artificial by any means nor totally realistic, but it is rich, thick, opaque, a little even sticky, but not cloying. It's intoxicating. Raspberry does not stand out in any way individually or any more than "berries" in general. Like the chocolate note in Opal Secret the fruity note with berries lasts until the late dry down. The house has managed to create those note in the way which is not so easy always and woody notes are supporting and sustaining them. If Chocolate was dipped in Amber in Opal Secret, here all those berries and fruits has been dipped in Amber but it's not that dark here, it's bright and golden, a little bit shiny. Somehow it feels like the rising sun, which brightens as the day goes on. The longevity of this scent is also good and it takes many hours for the scent to develop a caramel-like sweetness. In the dry down the scent start to loose it's uniqueness and the aroma is softer, pleasant, sweet, fruity and utterly beautiful mixed with cozy Musk. Topaz Glamour is more suitable for wintertime since I think it can be heavy and stuffy in hot weather because It's very close to get a headache even now when it's cold. The problem is the first two hours and this is so potent that it's difficult to wear it less. The longevity is great. I don't see myself buying a full bottle of this one but I absolutely recommend you to try this one if you want some very unique and heavy fruits. I'm still learning the concept of this new house and I will maybe write a longer review later. I wrote already a review of Opal Secret, Amethyst Soul is written now as well and next will be Pearl Harmony and Onyx Wonder. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. This is dark, hazy, inedible ambery chocolate scent and Chocolate stays there until the end. The texture is not sticky, nor thick but velvety instead. There is not much sweetness in it, Praline is not detectable like is not Vanilla either. The base keeps the scent away from a clear gourmand category, it's absolutely not edible. Amber together with dark non sweet Tonka is completely wrapped around the chocolate. Lily-of-the-Valley stays hidden, I would say that if you don't like it, it doesn't matter. You can smell this scent on the skin even after 15 hours and in the dry down it has changed into the sweet, delicious combination of Chocolate, Praline, Vanilla and Tonka and that thick layer of Amber is gone. The juice is absolutely well blended, the scent is not complex and it is very versatile - therefore it's great for the office as well. Still it is not one of those hundreds of crowd pleasing scents without any personality. The scent is more suitable for wintertime since I think it can be musty and stuffy in hot weather. Longevity is great. The style is not so "me" but the quality is there. I'm still learning the concept of this new house and I will write longer review once I have worn the scent enough. I will write about Amethyst Soul next and after that Pearl Harmony, Topaz Glamour and Onyx Wonder. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. I don't like Vetiver perfumes, I mean typical Vetiver which are almost all masculine. Otherwise I love to wear many masculine perfumes but Vetiver is something which is not attractive on women. First I was thinking that there is nothing "extraordinaire" in this but the more I worn it the more I came into the conclusion that this is the first Vetiver which is absolutely beautiful and pretty on women so this is unisex Vetiver. Of course it's because of how Vetiver is made, how much there is Vetiver in it but it's mostly because of wonderfully made blend. Vetiver is not sharp at all, not off putting nor too strong. Citruses don't have a big role which is more than fine for me since those can be tricky to my nose. They are in the opening but otherwise they stay far away in the background. Woody notes in the middle, especially Sandalwood softens Vetiver like Cashmeran as well and the result is velvety soft and indulgent. Musk in the base supports them perfectly. I'm not the right person to analyse Vetiver more since mostly I can't wear them enough. I can say for example that Nishane's Sultan Vetiver and Roja's Vetiver are very good top quality vetiver scents but honestly I don't use my time for that category. However, I can highly recommend Vétiver Extraordinaire to both women and men. Right notes Top: Bergamot, Bitter Orange, Pink Pepper Middle: Haitian Vetiver, Cashmere, Cedarwood, Sandalwood Base: Oakmoss, Musk Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. It doesn't smell like a Chanel fragrance at all and the aldehydes don't appear in the same way as in other fragrances from Les Exclusifs collection. The scent is powdery, but not as much as you might imagine from the combination of iris and Heliotrope. It is not dry powdery, like La Pausa for example. The whole thing smells rather like it has a lot of Violet and the smell in general reminds me of the color Purple (I don't immediately think of purple if smelling Iris). The aroma is sweet and "moist". Heliotrope is neither vanilla-like, nor almond-like, but the scent is thick, still not creamy and it brings the sweetness to the scent. The notes say "musky notes" and I think the scent is here very similar to Ambrette which has a sweet floral musky nuances. In the dry down the sharp scent of Violet changes into a softer texture and it's more like a mix of subtle Iris and clear Heliotrope. The scent is soft, pretty and pleasant, but I understand why we have been disappointed with it. It's hard to say if I'll buy the whole bottle. It may be that I suddenly fall in love with it, because there is absolutely nothing unpleasant in this scent or blend in overall. The smell is familiar and it reminds me of something, and I'll tell you as soon as I get it in my head. The two most recent crushes on Violet Fragrances are Pierre de Velay Amour and Oriza de L.Legrand Violettes du Czar, I definitely need Amour, the latter one I already bought and perhaps the most unsuccessful Violet fragrance is just lately released Palatine. I will continue testing this more and I will edit my thoughs if needed. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. LES PARFUMS DE ROSINE LeSnob No 1 Gothic Rose Joelle Lerioux Patris 2016 In 2015 Le Snob Company, the accessory house of luxurious leather based in Paris, discovered Rosine and quickly became obsessed with their unique fragrances. With both houses having a fascination with roses an exceptional creative collaboration was born. The first one of the gorgeous trio opens up with a potent bouquet of roses where Elemi creates a fresh and subtle citrusy aroma into it. Surprisingly I like it - citrusy facets are not always my favourites. Rose is first very realistic and intoxicating. There is a certain kind of airy feeling in it, not smoky but it it feels that it truly fills your nostrils and after that it settles down and changes not only into mysterious and spicy but an utterly unique rubbery scent as well. It’s weird and pleasant in the same time. I was afraid of it at first but it’s very chic. As I love plum, I was hoping it would be a bit stronger, but still not juicy. Ambery and balsamic base with Myrrh, Cedar, Musk, Leather and Vanilla makes this concoction oriental, dark and unisex. It’s not too thick, resinous or too strong, it’s not so sweet either - I think it would be suffocating if it was and this kind of base is very common so it's gratifying that it smells like nothing else. The overall feeling can be first synthetic for some but it’s because of rubber and without it this would me like dozens of other perfumes. The scent is enigmatic and sophisticated. I had a possibility to try this Fendi’s new collection and this one immediately stood out from the rest of the line. There are very nice scents but this one was love at the first sniff. La Baguette is captivating combination of stunning minimalist beauty, elegant powdery deliciousness without being gourmand and a dreamy soft pampering texture. Iris is delicate and vulnerable but it’s not too dry, cold or make up like because of tender Vanilla which is not too sweet nor sugary. The most refined leather joins to this dreamy, slightly creamy, classy and luxurious concoction. Sometimes, for a fleeting moment, it feels like a delicious treat. It’s not easy to make an iris fragrance, especially something as simple as this, that would be somehow special but Anne Flipo managed to do it. La Baguette was an instant love and it developed quickly into an obsession since it doesn’t only make me feel confident and beautiful but it also creates amazingly cozy and calming vibes. Sexy, sensual, erotic, mysterious, animalic, sweet, naughty Musk Aoud is one of my favorite Rojas from Aoud Collection and it has a very special place in my heart since it was my first scent from Roja Parfums. I bought it blindly and its enchantment has never faded. The color of this crystal cap is the most gorgeous of all! 💎 I think that this scent is totally underrated but I understand that it's not so easy to wear for many. I can’t get enough of this deep and complex scent. It's so sexy, sensual, erotic and mysterious. It's slightly animalic woody musky juice which is blended into perfection like all perfumes from Roja. You have to like oud and musk but it is not so challenging which you could think. The aroma of the scent is Roja's sophisticated and classy style without any roughness or pungent and brash nuances. Musk and Oud are not edgy here but noticeable ones and appropriately naughty but so pleasant in the same time. This will grow on you easily. Flowers play a supporting role in this fragrance rather than bringing a really floral aspect to it. After this settles down it turns so soft, a little bit powdery and a little bit sweet. It’s like the sexy smell of the skin! Vanilla, Nutmeg, Ambrette and Tonka they each bring their own "neutral" and natural sweetness to the fragrance, without being in any way comparable to sugary sweetness. The spiciness is really soft, and it doesn't remind of any food because the traditional oriental spices are missing. One note which can be challenging for me is leather but I never have that problem with Roja's style to do it. This is totally unisex since it doesn’t have so obvious “man” or “woman” characteristics. There is a little difference in the opening between dark and crystal juice but after 10 minutes those are totally same. The difference can be as well because of the age of the bottles. The longevity is eternal. I simply love this, I can't praise it enough and I need to add a big bottle of dark one as well. So sad that this is discontinued. 😭 Again one Roja's scent which doesn't have any similar competitor in the market. Just a note: dark juice stains light clothes From their website (when it was available) Top Notes: Lemon, Bergamot Heart Notes: Rose de Mai, Jasmin de Grasse, Ylang Ylang Base Notes: Nutmeg*, Patchouli*, Oakmoss*, Precious Wood Notes, Sandalwood*, Aoud*, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Birch, Labdanum*, Leather*, Ambrette*, Musk* *Main notes Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. I have to mention straight away that I’m not a fan of citrus based perfumes. I don’t like those on my skin and I don’t like to smell those on anyone. I find those boring, extremely uncharming and all of those has been done a million times. 🍊🍋 Roja Parfums Burlington 1819 IS THE ONE AND ONLY citrus scent which I love and even like. 🍊🍋 Burlington opens up with an amazingly natural smell of fresh Grapefruit and Lime with a hint of Mint and it never gets synthetic. That smell of citruses is so realistic, so bright, uplifting and delightfully different than those million others and it lasts long time. I can even say that citruses are delicious here. In Burlington all used different citruses are blending with a delicated smokiness and beautiful mossy woody base. Tobacco is not dirty nor too dry but it's easily noticeable. I like how the fresh nature of the fragrance, thanks to both citrus and spices, is combined with warm notes like Vanilla and Benzoin which is a note reminiscent of it. Those together with Labdanum and woody notes create a more interesting fragrance with depth, power and numerous unique tones. On my skin this scent is more simple, let's say more feminine as well, and as I test all of my scents nowadays on my husband’s skin as well I can say that the performance on his skin is deeper, darker and stronger and a bit more interesting than on my skin. What seems to be hidden on my skin is Ginger and Rum and overall the beautiful complex drydown with dark nuances is somewhat lighter on my skin - amazing anyway. Airy Saffron is barely detectable. I enjoy this scent a lot in both kind of ways how it performs but I have to admit that if it’s admirable on my skin, it’s totally unique experience on warmer skin. Most of citrus dominated scents try to imitate Lemon or Citron (in the bad way) and I think it’s lack of imagination since there is many different citrus to use - most common ones being Bergamot, Sweet Orange, Orange Bigarade (Bitter Orange), Mandarin, Clementine, Yuzu, Lime, Lemon, Citron, Verbena and Grapefruit. Roja has chosen the best ones imo into this scent while Yuzu being my favorite as a note in perfumes from other olfactive families. If you love citrus scents this is something which you really need in your collection. This is just simply AMAZING, so special. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review. First of all the notes are Top: Mandarin, Bergamot, Pear Middle: Violet Petal, Lavandin, Floral bouquet Base: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Musk, Vanilla This scent opens up with a shampoo like smell and not in a positive way. It's not attractive, clean nor soapy and it's very synthetic. It's absolutely impossible to pick up the different flowers - the only thing I can say that the blend is purple but honestly I can't say how much the color of the bottle affects what I think. The blend has no realistic fruity, sweet nor powdery nuances and I have difficulties to wear it even only to write a review of it. Every time when I'm sniffing my arm, I feel unpleasant. Contrary to my usual way of testing, not once did I want to spray this so much that the scent wafted around me. So all my 3 wearings was only two sprays on my other arm only. I love all the notes which Palatine has, even if I have sometimes difficulties with Lavender. That's why it's surprising that I don't detect any of them separately. Someone could say that it's well blended, and maybe it is but the synthetic aroma ruins it totally. I have many scents with a beautiful fruity Pear note in it and unfortunately it's not here. As much as I love different kind of flowers - they are not here. I'm even TOTALLY in love with Violet atm and because of that I was waiting to get my nose into this scent but no, no, no and no. And one of the most sensual base could be created by the notes which are in Palatine, so it's hard to understand how this result is possible. I try to find always positive things, and I don't downvote anything for example in based on a house (just want to mention since some people are doing that). I'm so sorry I couldn't find anything positive now. I have a sample of Elysium Pour Femme as well and I highly recommend to try that one too if you are interested in Palatine and/or like the scent. It has a lot of same in the style which Palatine maybe tries to offer but the quality is totally different. Even that scent is not for me though. Thank you for reading, I hope you liked my review.
