Just after spraying, this fragrance captivates me with its striking blend of red fruits, dark cherry, and a candied rose. The coffee grounds, however, introduce a curious tension, though bold, they add a slightly off-putting element, due to its synthetic quality, reminding me more of Mancera's Intense Café than the smoother Roses Vanille. Despite this, this note does not compromise the quality of the fragrance to me. As it develops, the scent evolves into something more complex. The amber takes on a slightly animalic quality, while the tonka bean pops out amidst a woodland setting. There’s a hint of burnt sugar that adds a touch of sweetness to this, deepening the overall experience. Around the final dry down this fragrance becomes a dreamy, woody scenario, inviting you to escape into a world of warmth, and soft, comforting layers of fruit and wood. In warmer weather, the fragrance is overwhelmingly fruity, with the cherry providing a refreshing, light touch. But as the temperature cools, this turns into something more amber-forward, evoking the mysterious, magical aura of a fairy forest full of roses. The red fruits remain, while the woodsy base gives a cozy, comforting feel as it lingers on the skin. I love it both in summer and fall.
The first time I've tried this fragrance it was late August, and I was hesitant to apply it to my skin, so I tested it on paper instead. It immediately struck me with its powerful, sacred aura. Casbah takes me to an ancient church, evoking a sense of timelessness and reverence, a place lost in the distant past, far removed from modern times. It projects intensely, like an incense that’s not just for any ordinary mass but one held for an extraordinarily significant event. The incense in ths is mineral-like and slightly cold, reminiscent of the weathered stone walls of old churches. It’s a scent that demands attention. On my skin, it’s even more striking. At first, a strong smoky element unsettles me, hinting at burnt woods, but as it develops, the overwhelming pepper intensity starts to mellow out, coming off as pure subtle freshness. Despite its initial, heady blast, the fragrance evolves into something beautifully complex and mesmerizing, with a delicate hint of enveloping tobacco that adds warmth and depth to the composition. It lingers for hours, so much so that 24 hours later, even after a shower, I can still detect a faint trace on my wrist. The longevity is unmatched.
I took quite a long time to understand and appreciate this fragrance. It is complex but also very straight forward, as it doesn't hide any of the notes in itself. For this very reason it took me some time to understand how simple but just pleasant this fragrance really is. Among very predictable winter fragrances, this scent is a breath of fresh air. Its unique blend of tonka, woods, and sweet notes is really not ordinary. This is a fragrance that challenges, surprises, and ultimately delights. The opening notes strike with the force of cardamom. Yet, there lingers a dissonance – perhaps the dried fruits, or the sharpness of the cardamom itself. This is a challenging beginning, one that leaves me uncertain, questioning. But later its gentle embrace comes off. The harshness softens, giving off a delicate interplay of woods and vanilla, their dance guided by the steady heartbeat of tonka. Here, in the heart of the scent, I find a peaceful hug. The woods offer me an earthy warmth, grounding the composition in a sense of rootedness, while the vanilla and tonka show a tapestry of sweetness that is both comforting and alluring. And then, the fragrance reaches its best part – the drydown. Here, the vanilla and benzoin take center stage, their union a symphony of richness and depth. It's truly a moment of pure olfactory bliss, a culmination of all that has come before. While it may lean towards the masculine, there is an undeniable unisex quality that defies categorization, and I find it just perfect for cold months. Delicate yet bold, sweet yet sharp at times. I was truly captivated by the journey it took me on.
Its mix of powdered notes, chocolate and mandarin peel embodies the essence of femininity with every sniff. The scent begins with a tantalizing note of chocolate, reminiscent of the frosting atop a freshly baked vanilla sponge cake. This initial impression sets the stage for a captivating blend of candied orange and violets, delicately dipped in chocolate. Despite its subtle projection, it lingers on the skin throughout the day, and it proved to have a better performance than I expected. It's subtle, and worth spraying a lot. It's such an alluring scent for any occasion, and it's a great balance of freshness and warmth. This perfume is a true delight for the cold season or early spring, and I find it perfect for a comforting embrace on a chilly winter day.
Francesca Bianchi never fails to deliver a sensual and bold fragrance, and in this case, she takes inspiration from the very spirit of Italian. The first word that comes to mind when I smell this is "Sprezzatura," which means "a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it." If you are wearing this, you don't care if others like you or not, you like yourself, and this is a very brave statement to express in a perfume. The mix of fresh citrus and dry labdanum and oakmoss is intoxicating, and in my opinion this is exactly why it's perfect to wear in the summer season. I am usually the type of person who can't stand summer fresh scents, but I've to admit it's hard to pull off spices and heavy notes in this season, so this is just perfect to me. Others have said this fragrance is not very animalic to them, but for me, it is so from the very beginning, and I honestly don't mind how sexy those notes come off in this scent. I also think the leather note gets lost in the animalic part. It does last almost a whole day, but I find the projection to be kind of mild after 2 hours. I've also only used this scent in very hot weather, so that might be the reason for that too. When I wear this fragrance, I feel so powerful. It's a daring choice that exudes confidence and self-assurance. I wouldn't wear it every day, but on those special occasions or days when I want to make a statement, it's the perfect choice.
This myrrh perfume is perfect for the summer with its refreshing orange flower notes. The inclusion of cola-like myrrh in the blend makes it truly unique, along with the florals in it. The scent is not bad at all, and the delightful sweet orange blossoms steal the spotlight. The projection is also quite strong, which is a bonus. However, personally, I find it a bit too soapy for my taste, almost to the point of being overwhelming. It's a shame because the addition of cocoa adds a creamy touch that I usually love in fragrances. On a personal level it also feels a bit too "old" as a scent, probably for that soapiness which I really don't enjoy. Nonetheless, it was an interesting experience to try it out, but I would never invest in a full bottle of this.
This scent is classy and wild at the same time. It reminds me of a cherry liquor, bursting with juicy goodness. As it settles, it turns into a captivating blend of sandalwood, amber, and hints of florals, creating a dark yet clean scent that's quite intriguing. Personally, I'm among the few who can sense prominent oud in this fragrance. It starts off strong, but eventually mellows down to become a subtle skin scent. This fragrance truly transports me to a mystical forest. While it is versatile and suitable for anyone, I can't help but imagine a man wearing it.
