I absolutely love this! To me far more interesting and appealing than the original, which I also like don't get me wrong but platinum is more of the same a kind of orange blossom, ISO E SUPER and curious amber accord with an opulent mixture of frankincense and spice, which I just find more enticing. This is a really solid release from the Spanish house that gave us my all time favourite aquatic, agua de Loewe EL. Also, the bottle is very stylish has great attention to detail like the information pressed into the metal tag on the bottom, also the logo on the sprayer and the modern design of the stopper all give a wonderful feeling of quality. From a collectors point of view even the box is nicely presented like a proper niche, boutique fragrance the box is almost ready gift wrapped and resembles a hardback novel, with a sliding action. As if that wasn't enough included with my 50ml bottle was a small 2ml heavy metallic vaporiser which also came in a fancy velvety feeling box. I'll be honest I normally throw the box away but I don't know if I can bare to with this one.
Managed to get hold of a sample today and I must say it's absolutely stunning. I had tried it before a while back and then decided to get Mont Blanc Individuel as a stop gap really, a more financially viable option too. They are very, very similar indeed but quite different when initially sprayed the Creed smells a little harsher and sweeter which takes it to a different realm. When you get into to heart of the fragrance the similarities become very apparent. Then finally comparing side by side I would have to say that there's just something I prefer about the Creed as drys down its just magical stuff that keeps on giving sweetness and spice...beautiful. If I'm honest though it still doesn't inspire me to purchase, it's simply not over £100 better than the Individuel which is fantastic and after all was released first. Not that Creed have copied it or anything, i think its more subtle and refined than the Mont Blanc, you can definitely tell it's a really well finessed scent that has better projection and longevity. The point is....this scent is good and I totally love it!!!! Update: Just looking back on my review and it's spot on as per usual! hahah only kidding! I still feel the same way about Creed Santal though I know now that the Longevity is negligible. I've had MBI and I love that scent. I was aware that it predated OS but only recently discovered that Piere Boudon and Oliver Creed are friends which completely explains the whole GIT and Davidoff CW thing! Although in that case the Creed fragrance is a clear winner. It's tit for tat...they've poached ideas of each others ideas and probably have a right old laugh about it. All the way to the bank!
Three words...Lemon meringue pie! A very expensive smelling lemony scent with a hint of vanilla and woods it's truly heavenly. I generally like the Allure range but had a bit of trouble finding this one, tracked it down now and oh my word it is really really lovely. Lemon fragrances are great but usually aren't the star of the show and I can understand how people don't like them as they are too sharp with citrus or remind them of household cleaners or something? Do not be put off by the lemon at the forefront of this fragrance because it is delicately nuanced, how anyone couldn't think this was anything other than delicious is beyond me. Easily the best Chanel fragrance by a mile!
This is a great fragrance...It reminds me of my dear friend Stefan as its his favourite. A strange one really because although its not a niche fragrance it's not a hugely popular one either, he must've shopped around and he's not a frag head. Precisely what I'd say about this one, it's one for somebody who wants to smell good but doesn't want anything too over the top. He asked what I thought of it and all I said was 'woody' that's what I'd say about it really its a wonderfully simple scent which is very soapy, pleasant and inoffensive. It has a mild floral note in the top from the iris but is mainly woodiness from the resin and delicate vetiver. I'm not familiar with the other fragrances its compared to on here, with the exception of Luna Rossa which I love and can maybe see a resemblance they're both very clean and of the same type, same brand and after all they're by the same perfumer.
To echo many of the comments below...Totally confused by the comparisons to 1 Million and Cool Water even? Crazy it's nothing like them. I love subtle notes of gin and wood and really like the fragrance at first try. I didn't want to based on the campaign and the bottle (which is actually quite innovative) I find them a little vulgar too. My criticism of this fragrance is like so many others available its a little bland and cheap/synthetic smelling but If you like it you like it...and I like it.
Finally, I got my hands on a bottle of this juice and it hasn't disappointed me at all! For me this was a more cost effective alternative to Creed Santal and a very good likeness too. It is also very similar to Mont Blanc presence in that it has a creamy, soapy, powdery quality to it. I would liken these fragrances to a sweet, milky curry like a korma or a pasanda...very light but with underlying spice. The spices come through beautifully and make this a complex and devine fragrance that is very masculine yet soft and subtle. Well done Mont Blanc, another great one here...I love it.
There's something so enticing, confusing and frankly overwhelming about this scent. I tried it a couple of years ago and thought 'woah! that's potent stuff!' But it felt too old for me. Now that I have it I'm still not sure about it? I wanted something different for my collection a potent go to fragrance that was a little more sophisticated and older to add some depth and it certainly does that. Something about it (maybe the floral notes) just make me think feminine, but everytime I start to think that the more I sniff O find I get the strength and masculinity coming through which balances it. The notes are so varied and well blended some are easy to pick out, others not so easy but make it a truly bewildering mixture. One thing I know for sure...it's strong as a motherfucker and as some others have mentioned, beware not to over spray. I did 3 squirts to my neck and chest and initially it knocks you out!! Really!!! The scent out of the bottle is massive and does have an almost medicinally harsh quality probably takes a couple of hours to settle down and certainly gets nicer. With other fragrances I normally get more of the basenotes, (woods or what have you) in the dry down but this changes very little (after the initial harshness of course) and I get the same throughout, but it's more and more pleasant as it mellows. For me personally...I have no idea when would be an appropriate time to wear this? I needed the variation in my collection so it's only a good thing that I have it in my arsenal I think maybe crisp winter days as it has inherent warmth to it. One thing is for sure you're not going to smell like your average joe in this.
My girlfriend just got this and she smells delicious. I like the light floral notes which are balanced with woody base notes which keep it from being too sweet and flowery. I have to agree with some of the minor criticism here it doesn't really suit the name, I reckon it's more of a daytime fragrance...but that doesn't matter if you like it.
Wow!!! I'd been waiting to sample this magical juice for a while...I wanted to get the original Homme but my girlfriend got me this one instead. I'm very impressed I must say...a massive blast of lime and something else I can't put my finger on. Real mojito accord with the freshness of mint in there too and balanced woodiness, the vetiver in the base as it drys down really compliments the other notes perfectly. It has a really expensive classy feel too it and makes you feel great when wearing it. The bottle weighs a ton and is beautifully designed just to give even more of a sense of luxury.
I'm a latecomer to Marc Jacobs BANG! I remember it coming out....who could miss that bottle right? Perhaps I did spray it but I didn't pay it much attention until now. BANG!!! This is mega spicy. The extreme end of the dry, peppery, scale and unique in how far it goes with the theme, especially for a designer perfume. I had expected the new V&R Spicebomb to be like this but I'm kind of glad it wasn't in a sense, going more heavy with sweeter spices like cinnamon and anise. I do like this fragrance a lot because its so hardcore into that sweaty, JCE spice of Declaration or something, but I'm not sure I'd wear it a lot. Just briefly on the bottle...it's a really bizarre shape and stands out on the shelf not sure I like it though.
