Stepping into the world of Bortnikoff is always an experience, but Manie du Café hits differently. It’s not your average "breakfast" gourmand; it’s a sophisticated, dark-roasted journey.
The opening is a photorealistic blast of espresso—bitter, rich, and slightly smoky. But as it settles, the signature Bortnikoff DNA kicks in. The oud is clean and structural, providing a wooden counter for the sweetness of vanilla and cardamom to play on. It feels less like a coffee shop and more like a private library where someone just pulled a fresh double shot. Perfect for crisp mornings or evenings when you want something with real presence.
The opening is very blackcurrant forward and immediately reminds me of Robinsons Squash smelled straight from the bottle, juicy and distinctly fruity. After a while, delicate jasmine joins in, along with a touch of davana, which subtly enhances the sweetness of the blackcurrant and adds a light aromatic nuance to the composition. In the base, oakmoss and earthy patchouli appear, but fortunately it’s not the heavy, cellar like type, but rather soft, slightly green and elegant. The composition is very pleasant overall and has something about it that reminds me of a summer forest after the rain. Unfortunately, the fragrance is rather fleeting. Longevity is around four hours, with moderate projection for the first hour, after which it quickly becomes a skin scent. A pity, because it’s truly a very enjoyable composition.
A fragrance I simply have to keep in my collection. My bottle dates back to November 2015 and still evokes the same emotions in me. The juicy mirabelle opening, with a pinch of pink pepper, brings to mind warm summer afternoons and the taste of fruit picked straight from the tree. After a while, the composition unfolds into a floral fruity heart, delicate, sunlit and joyfully shimmering. It settles into a woody patchouli base that adds depth and elegance to the scent. Longevity is around six hours. The projection is initially quite pronounced and radiant, later becoming more intimate as the fragrance sits closer to the skin.
A light, salty aquatic that lasts 4+ hours.
It's a lightly fruited lemongrass. Longevity is terrible, less than two hours. I like it though, because I like lemongrass. Good to put on when you want something gone quickly, like before an airplane flight or a dentist appointment.
It leaves a gorgeous, head-turning sillage without choking out a room, and the vanilla clings to clothes for hours. A beautifully blended, grown-up tropical gourmand. A must-sniff for the warmer weather.
This is very similar to Amouage Lyric Man but with added spice. This has average performance and sillage.
Just get Lyric Man if you want a clean soapy rose. IMHO, it is superior in every way.
One of the most slept on from this brand. This fragrance is phenomenal. This has become my go to every day easy wear fragrance for the winter/fall. You could also pull this off on a cool spring evening as well. City rhythm rarely misses and Tempo is yet another example of solid fragrance.
Guidance 46 is an intensely powerful, long-lasting fragrance that truly makes a statement. It opens with creamy pear and hazelnut, blooms into rich florals, and settles into a warm, resinous base of sandalwood, vanilla, and ambergris. It leans feminine because of the lush floral sweetness, but anyone confident can wear it. Projection and longevity is crazy. (all day). Its is a perfume that will leave an impression and lots compliments. Its Bold, addictive and a masterpiece from Quentin Bisch.
Amber Aoud helps you test the waters of oud. As it isnt a prominent note. But beautifully blended throughout. Its is distinctly opulent. It is for someone who wants to smell powerful, confident and unmistakably expensive. Strengths: Superb quality raw materials. Good longevity. Especially on clothing. Although can stain so use with caution. It is a complex and evolving fragrance like all Roja Dove. Stunning bottle presentation

Hawaii Volcano is a sparkling coconut with a floral musk dry-down. It's linear and completely unisex. It needs more fruit or spice or something. I don't find it particularly interesting and sillage is limited so I like to layer it with something more fruity, aquatic or sweet.

A radiant, more floral and decidedly more daytime interpretation of the classic Mon Paris. The fresh, fruity opening flows seamlessly into a soft bouquet of flowers, before settling into a musky woody base with a subtle touch of patchouli. The composition is light, luminous and very feminine, perfect for spring and summer. It reminds me of the days just before the summer holidays, a warm evening outside my grandmother’s house, when a gentle breeze carries the sweet scent of peonies from the garden. There’s something nostalgic about it, yet fresh and carefree. Longevity is around six hours, with moderate projection.

It's a zesty watermelon. I like wearing it to bed since it lasts about as long as it takes to fall asleep.

There is something way about this, like a perfect yellow lemon you buy at the store in any month of the year and cut up for garnish on a plate. The lemons from my own garden are lumpier, dirtier, oilier and juicier, but I still buy lemons at the store since I never have enough.
It smells like walking through a bakery with chocolate wafting through the air rather than a chocolate gourmand. Big sillage gets a lot of attention. Layers well with creamy florals.
A slightly skanky lemon, like standing on a terrace in the humid morning before the day becomes unbearably hot. It lasts a long time as the lemon here is lemongrass.
Topaz crystals can be blue to brown to yellow, which influences my perception of this fragrance. The bottle is vaguely blue, and the fragrance starts out as a typical blue scent with aromatic citrus. The scent turns yellow as florals kick in, then brown with thin, unisex wood. Save this crystal gem for summer as it quickly dulls in cold weather.
Floral from start to finish, begining with a geranium note that turns powdery then soapy. It's like a garden in back of a townhouse inspired by a cottage garden. It's not as chaotic, messy and varied as an established cottage garden. Tattoo is a restrained, less than wild green, but it has great longevity, sitting on the skin for 8+ hours. My bottle looks different.
