First, this is an extremely well made fragrance. It's just not for me. This is a very rich classic chypre with a linear path after the opening. It may have some additional changes after 4 hours but I did not make it that far. The florals and aldehydes in this dominate with a background vanilla note. I don't get any of the leather or oakmoss. I found this oppressively strong to the point that I regretted wearing this to the office. Even at 4 hours I was still smelling it like I did at first application. Edited to add: Even the scrub didn't stop it. I can still smell it strongly 9 hours in. Was only two sprays.
Smells of saffron slowly developing into saffron followed by saffron in the dry down. Rose, Oud, Leather are nowhere to found.
You wore a sweatshirt to a Grateful Dead concert in the rain then left it in your trunk for two weeks until it mildewed.
Photorealistic tea with ginger cookies. The ginger adds a brightness to the darker tea notes that makes this a year round scent.
I get fougere minus the citrus top (not my favorite style) instead of the spicy oriental fragrance I was expecting. The dryness is very well done and it is well blended. I really love the scent especially when I first put it on but it is so linear after the first 15 minutes that it begins to wear on my nerves in an hour or so. The linearity ultimately makes this hard to wear. Edit: After a couple more wears this has grown on me. I don't find it as linear as the first wear. For one thing the cumin pops out occasionally though I can never find it when I smell directly.
The first 10 minutes were almost a scrub situation for me. It was a cacophonous blur of heavy and biting herbs in resin. After 30 minutes, I started coming around on it. The unsweet vanilla does a lot to take the blend to a place that makes sense. I like the amber at this point and the warmth is very well done. Deep dry down is very pleasant but not as interesting and too much patchouli. Overall I'd find it challenging to wear this with any regularity. Agree with others that it's a little weak sillage/longevity especially given the scent profile.
Apparently even in the Ivy League frat houses smell of piss and stale beer. This is foul Easily recreatable at home. Get drunk, come home and take the top off your Terre D'hermes, pee in it, replace top, job done.
20 minutes after spraying and I can't smell it without putting my nose on my skin. Nobody in my family can either. It's an OK scent but the performance on me is terrible. It may be the weakest thing I've tried in the last year. Bizarre that on other reviewers this is a strong performer.
Opening: Smells like you walked into Milk Bar and Christina Tosi hit you in the face with a cake. Pleasant but I don't want to smell like frangipane and buttercream. Dry down: Fortunately it dries down into something a little less cakey. I agree with the root beer float analogy but the balance seems to be more on the ice cream with a little IBC hiding behind. Smells good but not complex enough for the money. Projection is good. More feminine to me. Might work in limited situations but just not sold on this as something I need a full bottle of. P.S. This would be a great candle scent.
The opening of this smells very feminine to me. It calms down into a really nice masculine fragrance but I would let this one sit before you judge it. Ultimately, I like the scent but it isn't super memorable.
