What does Saffron Smell Like In Perfumes? Saffron is a Bittersweet, Potent, Leathery but soft Suede-like, Earthy with Hay-Like qualities smell. The plant itself is the Crocus Sativus from the Iris family and is a prized, very expensive, priciest spice ever. The stamens are what and where the note comes from. It turns food into an orangish yellow color but it's a perfect note to give off an Aromatic Spicy, Leathery quality to Perfumes.
