FRAGRANCE DU BOIS Cannabis Intense Shadi Samra 2020 Unisex, nowadays I’m thinking male leaning though One of my favourite from Fragrance du Bois. Beautifully aromatic, classy and versatile year around perfume. Absolutely sophisticated - don’t get scared because of the name. Cannabis Intense as a name may bring some associations into your mind but this one is different. The scent is so perfectly blended that all the notes have completely merged with each other from the beginning. Really quickly after opening the sharp spicy notes are gone and I notice soft nutmeg and pleasant earthy Saffron but in this point there should be cannabis note as well. This is the moment when this scent turns out very interesting, it’s there but in a unique way. Cannabis is not like for example in Nasomatto Black Afgano which is more hashish like or like in FDB Cannabis Blue which is extremely realistic dry Marihuana (weed) scent. You can find here two types of Cannabis accords and the fresh green one is balanced with Oud and Saffron. Another one is inspired by the smell of the burnt Cannabis leaves. Neither of those notes are dominant since the idea was to create a synergy between woody, spicy and green notes. This seams to be quite linear, it doesn’t change so much during its lifetime and it’s very comfortable, soft, woody musk base balances the blend until the end. Yet, thinking about the idea of the scent, the complexity is there. Oud is not any main note here and imo Oud here is more beautifully made than in FDB’s Oud line. I mean it doesn’t come straight away into your nose and disappear quickly. Here it is smoothly in the background. Gorgeous scent! This is not exactly the review yet but just information which is quite relevant. People seem to mix all the information what comes to these Guerlain’s classics and different concentrations, the launching years and all information here is not true. Mitsouko Eau de Parfum wasn’t launched on 1919, they only launched Eau de Toilette and Extrait de Parfum which is same as Parfum and Eau de Cologne. Eau de parfum as a term of concentration didn’t exist before 1990 and even if Mitsouko’s EDP doesn’t differ so much from EDT the case is different for example with Shalimar. Shalimar Eau de Parfum launched in 1990 is significantly different from Eau de Toilette and Parfum.
TRADITIONAL CHYPRES 🍁 Amouage Jubilation XXV 2007 There is missing some main elements of Chypre scent here but it performs very similarly like Chypre anyway. This is soft and Ambery, very refined. The warmest of these all. 🍁 Guerlain Mitsouko 1919 Mossy and earthy, new epd is a little bit sharp while my new extrait is soft and more round, polished. I used to layer them to get the best from both. This new epd is the most dry of these ones. An extrait version of Mitsouko, even if it’s the most recent one, is mesmerizing, rich and intoxicating blend. It’s very different than edp where the beautiful sweetness from Peach is very faint and a deep, mellow, mossy base is just earthy and very dry. Extrait is so amazing and evocative definitely one of the best Chypres. I highly recommend that one, there is a huge difference between those concentrations. 🍁 Rochas Femme 1944 A little bit more fruity than others, beautiful Plum, Peach and Apricot brings a gentle sweetness. Feels smoky/earthy after the opening but not for long time. Performs darker on my husband’s skin than on mine. 🍁 Roja Parfums Diaghilev 2010 Very strong and majestic dark blend, a challenging to wear for many. This one definitely needs the right kind of clothes, otherwise you look and smell totally ridiculous. Sharp and spicy, leathery and musky, the most masculine of these ones, actually there is nothing feminine in this. Thank you for reading and if you want to follow me on IG: @ninamariah_perfumes
I want to write my review right now because I think in totally different way about this like many others and maybe this gives a different perspective for someone who is trying to understand what kind of the scent is this. I like this scent a lot and since I was a little bit disappointed with the Portraits line this was the one which pop out and I liked this, after two weeks I love this. My problem just was that I found this similar to something I already have. I was thinking and thinking and finally I found it: Initio’s Psychedelic Love. I know, there is REALLY different notes in those two and vanilla can’t explain the similarity which I smell in any kind of way. I don’t know how I can feel like this and if anyone feels the same? I just know that the opening and the dry down smells similar: PL is more intensive, deeper, more narcotic and long lasting while BY is all the time from the opening until the end more soft and weaker. The one thing why I write this review now: I was reading reviews after testing this now during two weeks and I don’t find anything similar to MFK Oud Satin Mood. OSM is powdery, oud vanilla rose and all those notes are in balance and you can really easily tell what is going there without reading the notes anywhere. In BY there is oud and there is vanilla but not even vanilla is so obvious. There is many notes beautifully blended in BY and I love both scents and if you own another one you definitely need to get your nose to another because those are TOTALLY different scents, beautiful different kind of scents. And if you like another one it’s not so obvious that you like both. For me the big question is: do I need “a weaker version” of Psychedelic Love? Those are definitely not the same but the smell in my left and right wrist appears pretty similar. I hope someone got the idea, my English is not so perfect though. Enjoy your perfumes. 🙂 Thank you for reading and I would appreciate a lot if you want to follow me on IG: @ninamariah_perfumes
Even if I realize that the quality is not good I found the smell itself cozy. But absolutely the only occasion while I had wore this is when it’s 20 C minus ouside, I have to have a lot of clothes on when going to sleep and I just want some cozy scent on my clothes which I wish to have been disappeared until the morning comes. Maybe nice scent for teenagers but not this kind of niche fragrance addicted middle aged woman. 😅 This is a one purchase when I didn’t have my nice evening scents with me and I just bought quickly something cheap for sleeping. Anyway I don’t find this cloying at all, just soft musky coconut scent. I don’t notice patchouli so much. Thank you for reading and I would appreciate a lot if you want to follow me on IG: @ninamariah_perfumes
Opening is really interesting, spicy, fresh and woody and I just wanted to smell that more and more. Quite quickly it settles down and all that interesting part has disappeared and soft, powdery and a little bit herbal skin scent is left. Don’t get it wrong, what is left is beautiful. There is just a totaI chance from very strong opening to very soft drydown. I find this scent exactly how the main accords are listed and it goes in that order as well from opening to drydown which is rare. I don’t find here any booze or tobacco vibes or notes, no vanilla either. I sprayed 3 for each wrist but if you are whole day on the way prepare to have a bottle with you and re-spray a couple of times. For me poor longevity is not a problem because I like to change normally the scent 3 times during the day (home/gym/casual/evening/sleeping). This for example I wouldn’t wear at the gym but during the evening when meeting friends this would be perfect. If you like spicy notes I think this is a safe blind buy but if you don’t like I recommend to sample first. I was so curious of this scent first of all because I don’t like the idea of chocolate and orange. I don’t like at all those marmalade chocolates but I was thinking if I don’t test this I will miss something. Secondly I read that this is not so obvious gourmand so I wanted to find some more sophisticated gourmand in my collection. And yes! Like I was thinking about this I felt in love with this. So addictive beautiful blended scent and yes, this is really obvious chocolate and orange and I just like it a lot even if I don’t like the smell of those candies. And this really is sophisticated gourmand because it’s not so strong and screaming those gourmand notes. Everything is in balance. I don’t know how my reaction is possible but it’s like that and after really observing testing during many days I ended up ordering FB of this.
THIS REVIEW IS A COPY OF WHICH I WROTE OF MANCERA'S ROSE VANILLE SO THIS STARTS FROM THAT. THIS INCLUDES 5 DIFFERENT ROSE VANILLA SCENTS. Again another rose-vanilla -scent (I like that combination, don't get me wrong), and sorry but again Mancera did it in very synthetical way. If you have a budget you can go for it, it's nice anyway but if you can invest more money then you should definitely choose Xerjoff's K'Bridge Club or stronger scent MFK Oud Satin Mood. Even Tiziana Terenzi's Delox is this same "note family" like as well Initio's Atomic Rose. Delox is beautiful, mellow one and Atomic Rose on the other hand very synthetic and cloying. I will compare these because I find it useful while trying to choose new scents for testing or even blind buys. I don't recommend bb for anyone even if I have many successful blind buys. 1.Mancera Roses Vanille If you prefer this kind of scent to be more vanilla and not so much rose. In the opening I got rose as well but it fades away immediately after 15 minutes. This is just sweet vanilla, not so powdery either like MFK Oud Satin Mood is. This is not so strong and you have to spray many times during a day. Base notes are vanilla and musk. More affordable than others. (Maybe you want to test Montale Cafe Intense as well, very same kind of with a hint of a coffee.) 2. Xerjoff K'Bridge Club If you prefer good combination of vanilla and rose. Very nicely blended good quality scent but this is quite weak scent compared to Tiziana Terenzi's Delox or MFK Oud Satin Mood. Vanilla and rose is anyway much better than in Atomic Rose and they are not so synthetic. Beautiful scent for the office or everywhere when it's polite to think other people and how they will react to your scent. This is sophisticated version of vanilla and rose. This is a little bit fruity (like TT as well) compared to MFK OSM or Initio Atomic Rose. 3. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood This is the strongest one of these all. That scent is the beast and you definitely doesn't have to re-spray it during the day. This has all in the balance: vanilla, rose, oud and powdery accords. This I found out a little bit synthetic as well (not cloying) in the beginning and I was thinking this is not for me but this is really addictive, beautifully made and unique scent. Some people say that they find out oud too loud but I think it's really not. This is not so sweet like K'Bridge or TT. 4. Tiziana Terenzi Delox Stronger projection than Xerjoff K'Bridge Club, but anyway those two are the most similar to each other. Both has some hint of fruits as well and both are really vanilla. If you want to compare these to Initio's Atomic Rose TT has a coffee note and Atomic Rose is not so sweet, it's most unisex of these all. Delox is a good quality and long lasting scent. So coffee note you can find from this and Montale Cafe Intense (where the name is miss leading because the coffee note is weak) but I wouldn't compare these as a similar scents, there is too many separating things but if you just look the notes, those two look so similar. This is musk and amber based. I love this TT's Delox! This I definitely want a full bottle. 5. Initio Atomic Rose Nicely blended rose and vanilla, but so synthetic and cloying, the quality is poor. Not too sweet, not too much rose. The most unisex of all these perfumes mentioned. This is not the worth of money. Despite what is the base notes here you can find these really similar scents but there is a big difference with intensity and quality. But since we all are different and we experience the scents so different ways I just recommend to sample all of these and decide after that. For me these all are different! It’s like if you like a lot leopard print you find all leopard print different. Or you can find yourself in the situation like me wanting almost all of those because I find so unique things between these as well. Mancera and Montale I don't like to have, the quality is poor but so is Initio's Atomic Rose. Since I blind bought MFK OSM and fell in love with that I would like to have as well some more "shy" scent from rose-vanilla -combo. I think I will try to find some very natural smelling and good quality Rose-Vanilla.
