I was surprised about this and Narcotic V. both how comfortable, subtle and sleek these are. Both were the blind buys for me and I was waiting something more edgy and challenging like many of Nasomatto’s perfumes but these are really safe yet not boring in any kind of way. Both are office safe as well since they are not projecting too much, staying quite close to the skin and the lasting power is good anyway. NASOMATTO: Pardon This is really lovely and I think this is quite safe as well if you are not looking for an extraordinary artistic creation like many of Gualtieris. Pardon is special for sure, but this ended up to be really easy going pleasant scent for everyday wear as well. I was waiting a rich chocolate note but it’s not like that so this is not gourmand nor too sweet. It’s inviting and even romantic elegant scent but in the masculine way. Notes which I detect here are some warm spices, gentle oud, dark soft round chocolate note from Pathouli, maybe Tonka but Sandalwood and Vanilla at least in the base embracing the other notes mysteriously yet gently together. There is some florals in the blend for sure but to be honest I can’t name any, not even Mangnolia which is mentioned in several sources. This is a great, well blended masterpiece. Thank you for reading and I would appreciate if you follow me IG @ninamariah_perfumes
Love at first sniff!!! What a fragrance!!! I feel a bit vulgar trying to break it down but here goes. There's definitely patchouli in here and that might account for the chocolatey vibe. I also get a cocktail of sweet balmy incense elements of ladnaum, Myrrhe, opoponax just about everything I love. The Oud is present but not that prominent at first but comes on stronger and stronger in the drydown which is sublime. It's an interesting mixture of Carner cuirs, jubilation 25, black Afgano, Duro, Myrrhe imperial, bois noir but with the patchouli of Hindu grass. This fragrance might even surpass some of my alltime favourites, Pardon is quite simply a revelation, brilliant and something I would wear in a heartbeat. Despite vague similarities across the board, the more you discover about perfume the more you refine 'exactly' what it is that you're into. Pardon delivers it...what it can't do is recapture the enthusiasm or the sense of discovery the first time I smelled certain types of perfume but it has a damn good try. By some strange miracle Pardon is not that strong...yes you heard me right. Of course it's strong, it's a Nasomato perfume for gods sake but in my experience this is not as strong as Black Afgano or Duro. A top top fragrance no doubt and has that signature Nasomatto thing about it.
I was expecting more from Pardon - partly due to the praise surrounding it, but also I hoped the fantastic creativity and quality of ingredients from other Nasomatto releases would carry over with this one. Unfortunately I’m a bit disappointed. Pardon opens straight away with a dry, dusty and slightly animalic oud which smells one-dimensional and flat. There’s a hint of magnolia and other florals, although very subtle, and a slight touch of spicy cinnamon. This scent profile then stays rather linear for the entire life of the scent. Personally I was hoping for the chocolate to be more prominent but to me it’s almost non existent, all I’m left with is a dry, simple oud which feels flat and uninspired with little to no depth.
