First blast and I'm like mmmmmmm this is lovely, then it quickly becomes nauseating... I didn't think Black Orchid EDP could be outdone for its screeching, obnoxious, attention-seeking stranglehold but voilà, here I am. This lies somewhere between BO EDP and Parfum for me in terms of the scent, but it takes the TOO MUCH factor and cranks it up to 10. And I only sprayed twice.
Definitely Unisex and so sexy on men This iconic perfume is really well known and therefore widely reviewed so I try to concentrate those kind of things which I didn’t found so easily answers before I blind bought this. My questions were: Is this too spicy and is vanilla anyway the strongest note? This is not too spicy but this is strong. This is rather a fresh and really unisex and unique take on vanilla and that I like because it’s not sugar like or any kind of ice cream vanilla which kind of I only want to wear while sleeping. In the opening green notes, pepper and ginger gives a magical touch for vanilla, which is dominant note from the beginning until the last tinge of this unique long lasting high quality perfume. Cardamom continues the spicy touch in the drydown and all those spicy notes you can smell well blended until the end -those just fade away a little bit. Other base notes start to shine and together with vanilla and fresh vibe from Patchouli they give a soft, pleasant, cozy and sophisticated experience of this juice. This scent lasts and lasts and it really won’t leave you alone. This is not shy vanilla, this makes you stand out but it’s not what I was thinking based on reviews: too spicy or too sharp. Without those spices this would be just another ordinary vanilla perfume. If you like spicy notes even a little bit, you will love this blend. 💎 Thank you for reading and I would appreciate a lot if you want to follow me on IG: @ninamariah_perfumes
Okay so superficially this has Aventus vibes as everyone and his or her dog has mentioned. However, that's for people with no imagination or fragrance vocabulary to speak of. I'm actually surprised that it's not in the smells like, because every other (post Aventus derivative) fragrance seems to be. Instantly though this is different to me, it's softer, rounder and with a much fresher sparkle, of citrus and resin and little to no modern patchouli/woody accord scratch, therefore NOT Aventus. Where this does let itself down is the similarity and conjuring of the WORST FRAGRANCE EVER, Mancera's Cedrat boisee. The infamous and awful, Cedrat boisee I should say but thanks to a miracle of Zarokian's perfumery skills she seems to steer the vanilla drydown into a wearable territory, to the point that the association is fleeting. However, I'm just not bothered about Ani. I have no desire to wear it, whereas I do get the urge to breakout Aventus due to it's inherent bro tones, and gung ho formula, yes I crave that from time to time. I'm not saying this is redundant, it's just not my scene and Ani might just be the finest Cedrat boisee, sparkly bergamot and vanilla soft collision ever formulated. If you see the value and quality, I'm not gonna say you're wrong.
Warm, complex, spicy vanilla fragrance. Brings a sense of being cozy on first spraying like you've come home to a place both familiar and welcoming in the best possible sense. It develops some woody facets as it progresses but maintains a vanilla undertone throughout. Not ground-breaking but very well put together!
