One of my more recent pickups but it is currently my signature. I absolutely love this from the second I got to sample it. I also believe you can get away with this fragrance year round.
Such a well blended scent! the cardamom is not to overpowering and goes so well with the fresh tobacco. when I wear this I feel like a classy gentleman in a Suit and tie at a upscale bar in the UK. Last a long time but the projection isn’t going to gas out a room. If it’s in your price point and don’t already have halfeti I would 100% recommend adding to your collection.
Spicy, woody, and warm, with a soft vanilla and beautiful fresh tobacco.
A perfect scent for daily or special occasions.
Price point isn't great, but damn the bottle is beautiful.
Mr Sam is a tobacco scent unlike most I have come across in the past and yet still feels quite simplistic. The scent is dominated by an incredibly smooth, well-rounded cardamom which is both warming and alluring. From here I get a strong dose of spicy cinnamon and a kick of black pepper before the real stars begin to shine. A dry, slightly ashy tobacco is complimented gorgeously by a woody, earthy base of cedar and patchouli. This is then rounded out very well with a seductively sweet vanilla. Overall this scent is very enjoyable to wear, its sweet tobacco and warm spices made with brilliant quality as always from Penhaligon’s, but clearly made with the mass-market in mind. This scent is very mass appealing, however the longevity is poor I find which is a shame.
Well, I didn't write a review of Sam when it came out, but I was given a couple of samples which I wore one and then the other leaked. Probably because of Penhaligon's policy of having their staff fill the sample vials, which is both good and bad. Anyhow, my first memories of this are as a fruity, sweet but long lasting top note which merges into a synthetic woody amber heart, which again opens very nice, like a plum infused, spicebomb type of slightly kitsch oriental. Then it starts to get on my nerves, and that's not a good sign seeming to cling and project with irritatingly, clingy tenacity. However, if it was on par with the decisive projection and longevity of Halfeti, This would be a scrubber for me. However it peters out to a pootling, splutter of mildly pleasant woody aroma chemicals, without any of that purple plummy attitude of the first hour or two. I don't hate it and I actually did a direct comparison with Halfeti, smell wise they are chalk and cheese to me but approach and the fact they are variants on the same theme, I can absolutely see why many people would perceive similarities...architecturally speaking.
Blazing Mr. Sam is a luxurious fragrance from Penhaligon’s. It’s a warm, spicy, and slightly smoky scent that radiates confidence. The opening hits with a bold mix of cardamom and cinnamon, giving it an immediate spicy kick. As it settles, black pepper and saffron emerge, adding a rich depth. The dry-down is where cedarwood, vanilla, and tobacco create a warm, slightly sweet yet masculine finish with a hint of sensual smokiness. I have heard of bottles having poor performance, but my bottle lasts a good 5 hours!
