Opens with very bright and striking, lots of bergomot and lime, there's a hint of floral sweetness in the background, but the lime and bergamot at very pronounced. After around 15 minutes or so, the bergamot starts to subdue, and the rose intensifies, its a very bright floral rose, the lime and rose combo comes across very soapy, very clean and fresh, but has more of a soapy clean quality. Into the heart of the scent, your introduced to some smokey subtle incense which helps to calm down the soapy naunce, though the rose and lime do still dominante over the incense. As the fragrance develops into the drydown, the floral rose becomes the standout note, its rich and luxurious, at times smelling like a very expensive and rich rose water concution. It smells like your in a hot bathtub full of rose petals.
I find the scent incredibly pleasing, very sexy, romantic, rich and regal. A very luxurious rose scent. However at times in the past I have found it to be quite daring, it can come across slightly feminine. I guess it's a fragrance I choose to wear when I'm feeling quite adventurous and daring, when I'm feeling confident and want to put out a certain aura.
In terms of performance this was brilliant, both longevity and projection were excellent, last 10 or so hours and projecting all through, being noticeable with a a great scent cloud.
In terms of season, can be used both day or night, but best for night during the fall, winter and spring. Possibly too cloying for the very hot summers. As far as occasions, this would work great as formal, night out and possibly a date, though you will have to be quite confident to pull it off, but if you can would work great, as it has a very sexy quality to it.
Overall rating will be a 4/5.
AMOUAGE LYRIC MAN Daniel Visentin 2008 And some words about Lyric Woman. This pair is a great example how you shouldn’t stare at the genders on the bottle. I would say that the both of them are totally unisex but at least Lyric Man is not more masculine than the women’s counterpart. I have written earlier a review of Woman like the comparison as well of an old formula vs the new one. Those are under Lyric Woman . Some words more of it (new): the more time goes by the more deep, dark, round and polished the juice is. The dark petals of the roses are easier to detect and the base is perfectly blended, the spices are still wrapping everything inside them. I love it more and more very time when I wear it. Lyric Man is a chameleon. When the weather is cold, it’s quite simple scent with citruses and roses and it feels very soapy. You may start to think that it’s feminine or “what a perfect scent for summertime”. But when the summer arrives and the weather gets warmer its personality changes. The whole scent is darker, more mysterious and more unisex. The base of Man smells familiar from Lyric Woman since they share all those 4 base notes which Man has (Musk, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Vanilla). The base creates complexity together with the spices but the overall aroma remains fresh - not exactly like in the cold weather but fresh anyway. Pine continues the freshly green aroma together with Galbanum and together they make a big difference between these two scents. Although the base does not achieve the equivalent complexity with Woman it’s enough to build a beautiful oriental Rose scent. It is simpler mainly because of there is missing the half of the base notes when Musk takes over and a refreshing citrus opening found in Man is enriched in W straight away with Cardamom and Cinnamon. The idea of Lyric Man is the same though: roses in a woody base with Amouage’s signature Francincense, everything covered in a spicy veil. If I describe the scent simply: In cold it's Roses with citruses in a clean musky base. In warm it's fresh spicy roses in distinctly oriental base. If you have been overlooking Lyric Man I recommend you to try it and make sure you experience it’s both amazing facets. Super loads of aldehydes here which are not listed. Same sort of aldehydes as in Chanel No 5 (harsh and soapy). Not a bad scent but by no means as good as other Amouage perfumes.
I sampled this way back and couldn't remember what it was like which usually doesn't bode well at all. However, this is really special stuff and not your typical rose at all. I'm used to the heaviness of amber or oud with rose but Lyric adopts an entirely different approach. It opens with a transparent fresh citrus lime zest which then instantly becomes a subtle powder and musk with rose infused gently like rosewater or something? It has the galbanum and resiny incense feel of Amouage with a tiny tiny hint of smoke. The way this scent then works is a complex swirl of tiny hints of notes which change throughout the experience, so much so that I need desperately to get hold of some samples and wear Lyric properly. This is an enigmatic, distinctive and beautiful fragrance well worth checking out.
So the dude that did the super indepth review of this absolutely nailed it so if you're looking for good info check his out. I'm just gonna keep rambling on
So first off its certainly got rose in it so if you're looking for something like that it's definitely worth buying. This isn't my woman's favorite of my rose collection but it's probably my favorite. The citrus and rose in the opening does make it smell like soap but it's the best rose scented soap. I sprayed it just before my boy got home and asked if I just got roses. Don't know if it's the incense nutmeg or ginger. Probably the ginger but there's something else in the opening that really grabs your attention.
This is a very clean smelling fragrance once it dries down or maybe I just become nose blind quick my kids say they can smell me all day.
As far as Amouage goes this is a pretty easy to wear fragrance but I'm a big rose fan so for those not into that maybe sample first.
