They're cosy but still fresh, softly enveloping and a bit sweet. Reminiscent of late Indian Summer and fruit ripening in the garden. Enjoy! ## Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense - Jo Malone London [Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense - Jo Malone London](/fragrances/19644/jo-malone-london/scarlet-poppy-cologne-intense#widget) My most recent discovery. I've visited the Jo Malone boutique in Tallinn looking for some refined and subdued scents. What stood out the most was a beautiful, burgundy bottle named "Scarlet Poppy". I tried it on, and I just fell in love. The bottle that you see on the photo is a purchase I made second-hand, on Yaga, and the bottle is pre-reformulation. Luckily, this is the real scarlet red! It's incredible how storytelling makes us feel things differently, because let me tell you - poppies don't smell good, they actually stink (I used to make "perfume" with poppy when I was a kid, at least the colour of the "juice" was pretty). But they are beautiful flowers, so romantic and wild at the same time. To me, this smells like the most perfect [Poppy](/notes/flowers/poppy) - it's subtly sweet, fresh and grounding. The [Tonka Bean](/notes/flowers/tonka-bean) is just delicious here, so is the [Fig](/notes/flowers/fig) - a little tangy, keeping the whole concoction from ever smelling boring. It's also a very refined and elegant fragrance, it's not screaming for attention but it softy lures you in - you can't say no and you can't stop sniffing (yourself or the person wearing it). Truly versatile and maybe even unisex, although it adds so much femininity when you're a lady. ## Soie Malaquais - Dries van Noten [Soie Malaquais - Dries Van Noten](/fragrances/4759/dries-van-noten/soie-malaquais#widget) Stunning bottle, isn't it? I'm actually very curious to wear this one in the Fall, because in summer I found it to be a bit cloying. It's an intriguing fragrance inspired by one of [Dries Van Noten](/brands/610/dries-van-noten) stores, the silky smooth textures, the elegant touch. [Marie Salamagne](/perfumers/120/marie-salamagne), who's the nose behind this, created so many classics and this one, to me, deserves to be up there with the best. It's not fully silky smooth, because the [Bergamot](/notes/rose/bergamot) and [Black Currant](/notes/rose/black-currant) on top give it a nice, juicy tang. I can't really smell the [Chestnut](/notes/rose/chestnut), but I'd say that the composition is so well balanced that only in harmony all these notes smell fabulous. [Rose](/notes/rose/rose) is quite understated as well, it's definitely not a rose perfume. Sits closer to the skin, but lasts quite long, around 6 hours. It's a really elegant gem for Fall. ## Poets of Berlin - Vilhelm Parfumerie New York [Poets of Berlin - Vilhelm Parfumerie](/fragrances/5124/vilhelm-parfumerie/poets-of-berlin#widget) Mouthwatering blueberry muffin, but with a twist. After the initial splash of sweetness I get a deep, woody base of smooth [Sandalwood](/notes/sandalwood/sandalwood) and [Vetiver](/notes/vetiver/vetiver). The twist I mentioned is a note that is not often used in perfumery and that note is [Bamboo](/notes/bamboo/bamboo). It makes this scent very intriguing and kinda hipster-y, kinda unisex feeling. Definitely a sexy one too! It touches the ground of [Gourmand Accord](/notes/gourmand/gourmand-accord), with the buttery, enveloping [Vanilla](/notes/vanilla/vanilla), but it never becomes too overwhelming and it surely isn't your regular vanilla perfume (there are so many nowadays). The bottle design fits the juice perfectly, it's chic and a bit nostalgic. This is what first days of fall smell like.
