Electimuss is known for its opulent, historically inspired fragrances, and Spice D’Arno is no exception. This creation by Céline Barel captures the grandeur of ancient trade routes, celebrating the rich flow of goods and ideas along Italy’s Arno River in Roman times. The result? A sophisticated gourmand fragrance that envelops the wearer in a velvet-like aura of warmth and spice.
Spice D'Arno
At its core, Spice D’Arno is an interplay of sweet Bran and lush spices, beautifully blended to create a fragrance that is both present and refined. It exudes a high-class gourmand elegance, wrapping around the skin with a comforting yet heady embrace. While undeniably rich, it never veers into excessive sweetness, thanks to the brightness of expertly woven zesty citruses that add lift and contrast.
“The starting point for Spice D'Arno is the city of Florence, through which the Arno river flows. Particularly inspired by this city and its rich history, I wanted to work with one of its emblems, a full-grain leather, soft and velvety, which I sublimated by combining it with mystical resins and balsams like myrrh, olibanum, labdanum and gurjun. Another wink to Florence is the hint of iris, with which I added a subliminal floral facet to the fragrance. As an allegory of the Arno River, I played on the subtle balance between fresh spices like pink pepper, cardamom and warm spices like saffron and vanilla, remnants of the treasures once transported on this eternal river. Finally, to seal the fragrance's long lastingness, I added a touch of oud, for an elegant, powerful trail.” - Celine Barel
For those expecting a prominent Leather or Agarwood (Oud) presence, Spice D’Arno takes a subtler approach. These notes are so seamlessly integrated into the composition that they remain elusive, serving more as structural elements rather than dominant accords. This masterful balance ensures that the fragrance remains smooth, well-rounded, and never overwhelming.
Although not a ‘beast mode’ perfume, Spice D’Arno maintains a strong and noticeable presence throughout the day. It lingers in the air, leaving a refined yet cozy sillage that makes a lasting impression. It is an indulgent, comforting fragrance that carries an air of timeless sophistication—much like the mighty river that inspired it.
Moroccan Medjool
If Spice D’Arno captures the essence of ancient Roman trade routes, then Moroccan Medjool, Electimuss’s latest release, follows a similar path with its decadent focus on Dates and Rose. Currently available for pre-order on the brand’s website, it promises to be another striking addition to the house’s gourmand offerings.
With Spice D’Arno, Céline Barel—renowned for creations like Zoologist’s Squid and several compositions for Scents of Wood—delivers a fragrance that is both indulgent and impeccably crafted. It stands as a testament to the beauty of spices, warmth, and the historical inspiration that defines Electimuss. A must-try for lovers of refined, well-balanced gourmand perfumes.
