Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense - Jo Malone London

My most recent discovery. I've visited the Jo Malone boutique in Tallinn looking for some refined and subdued scents. What stood out the most was a beautiful, burgundy bottle named "Scarlet Poppy". I tried it on, and I just fell in love. The bottle that you see on the photo is a purchase I made second-hand, on Yaga, and the bottle is pre-reformulation. Luckily, this is the real scarlet red! It's incredible how storytelling makes us feel things differently, because let me tell you - poppies don't smell good, they actually stink (I used to make "perfume" with poppy when I was a kid, at least the colour of the "juice" was pretty). But they are beautiful flowers, so romantic and wild at the same time. To me, this smells like the most perfect - it's subtly sweet, fresh and grounding. The is just delicious here, so is the - a little tangy, keeping the whole concoction from ever smelling boring. It's also a very refined and elegant fragrance, it's not screaming for attention but it softy lures you in - you can't say no and you can't stop sniffing (yourself or the person wearing it). Truly versatile and maybe even unisex, although it adds so much femininity when you're a lady.

Soie Malaquais - Dries van Noten

Stunning bottle, isn't it? I'm actually very curious to wear this one in the Fall, because in summer I found it to be a bit cloying. It's an intriguing fragrance inspired by one of stores, the silky smooth textures, the elegant touch. , who's the nose behind this, created so many classics and this one, to me, deserves to be up there with the best. It's not fully silky smooth, because the and on top give it a nice, juicy tang. I can't really smell the , but I'd say that the composition is so well balanced that only in harmony all these notes smell fabulous. is quite understated as well, it's definitely not a rose perfume. Sits closer to the skin, but lasts quite long, around 6 hours. It's a really elegant gem for Fall.

Mouthwatering blueberry muffin, but with a twist. After the initial splash of sweetness I get a deep, woody base of smooth and . The twist I mentioned is a note that is not often used in perfumery and that note is . It makes this scent very intriguing and kinda hipster-y, kinda unisex feeling. Definitely a sexy one too! It touches the ground of , with the buttery, enveloping , but it never becomes too overwhelming and it surely isn't your regular vanilla perfume (there are so many nowadays). The bottle design fits the juice perfectly, it's chic and a bit nostalgic. This is what first days of fall smell like.
